Need info on factory torqouise / green code 529 vinyl headliner

I recently picked up a 70 Longhorn. It is only a "Custom 20", but according to the SPID, it has the code Z62 comfort and convenience group, which I believe is the code for the stainless molding on the windshiled rear glass and wing windows. I want to add a factory style headliner in the correct 529 medium green. I have included a photo of the SPID and glovebox door for color reference. This truck is my first non 71/ 72. I am not even sure if the 70's had a headliner option. Doe anyone know if this was a 71/ 72 Cheyenne deal only, or if there was a headliner available in 70?

Re: Need info WTB factory torqouise / green code 529 vinyl headliner

I had a '70 CST ( C10) that had the factory headliner and houndstooth bench ( it was a lil different fabric that than the 71/72 houndstooth), which also had the woodgrain door panels. I dont believe the woodgrain glovebox was part of the CST, but Im sure someone will chime in if Im mistaken. The one I had was actually the darker green vinyl. I think pickupman unded up with that truck....lol

As a fellow longhorner, I like to see more pics of your new stable addition ! Maybe start a new thread over in the 67-72 general discussion? Like I said to her just before I was arrested... " Show us what ya got !!!"

Thanks for the help so far, guys. I have found that the 70's were in fact available with the headliner, much like 71/72s. Now I just need to find one to match the truck!

Im pretty sure that mine was solid vinyl. I think the perferated ones were early '69. I have one of those in saddle on the shelf.

Heres one with holes from a 69 Super Custom (CST) GMC I parted. I think it was an older 69 since it didn't have the cargo light.

The Custom was the mid level trim option in 1970. In addition to the bright window trim, I believe you got vinyl door panels, full foam seat, door activated dome light, insulation, etc. Starting in 1971, trucks badged as Custom were the entry level trim option and didn't have these features. You had to step up to the Custom Deluxe to get the same things.

That explains why it seems so "fancy" for a Custom. I am used to 71/72 trucks.

That looks a little more "green" than mine. Does the truck have the SPID? If so, what does it say about the interior color?

Heres the SPID. GMC did the whole contrasting colors thing though (like darker green on glovebox than rest or dash so this may not be the best comparison.

Re: Need info on factory torqouise / green code 529 vinyl headliner

To keep this simple, base 1970 Chevrolet pickup trucks will have the C/xx fender emblem. When RPO Z62 Custom Comfort and Appearance package is selected the emblem bumps to Custom/xx. When RPO Z84 Custom Sport Truck package is selected the emblem bumps to CST/xx.

The headliner in question is not a stand alone RPO but was in fact offered only (per documentation) as part of the Z84 CST package. It is part of the "special insulation" added by the package as "Roof (headliner)" in addition to the standard between the roof panels insulation.

The only picture I have handy I can document is a 624 GOLD VINYL TRIM Z84 CST

^ Correct. Only CSTs got the headliner. No Customs. A 69/70 Custom is equal to a 71/72 Custom Deluxe. 71/72 is when Custom became the standard truck

Re: Need info on factory torqouise / green code 529 vinyl headliner

My truck has the stainless trim around the rear window, but it appears the front went by the wayside when an aftermarket "Pilkington" windshield was installed. I have tracked down the 70 windshield trim and a new gasket with groove, but cant bring myself to risk breaking the windshield messing with it. Also, no door activated dome light switches from the factor on this one, but i have them and the switches from a truck i parted out and plan to install.
