Question Doetsch tech nitrogen shocks.

Has anyone bought or know anyone that has these drop shocks? If so, are you/they satisfied? I was told that these were nothing more than a Gabriel shock shortened.
I have bought and put on my truck, but put the truck away before had a chance to really drive with them.

Thanks.

I have those shocks on my truck. Really can't tell if they work really good. I can see that they don't support my truck very well because of the way they bottom out. They don't necessarily bottom out but they sure do come close. My truck is a little stiff too. I have a front sway bar and traction bars on the back. I say use some extensions and use some Monroe shocks on the back. I will wear mine out then use the shock boltup extensions. For a street daily driver they seem to be okay. For perfomance truck like mine they just don't cut it very well.

johnymac,My ranger had a set of D-Tec slammers when i got it. I felt that they were a firm ride, but didnt run them too long(the truck was too low to have geometry right on),so I lifted it some & went w ith a monroe shock. I have been looking at the D-Tecs for the longhorn,as i need short shocks(cut coil front,& flipped rear). This may scare a few,but Im a welder.....& have shortened my front shocks! Its been 10,000 mi,& no trouble, but the shocks are worn out. Any input on how the shocks feel on your truck would be appreciated ..... 69 Longhorn.

I've just installed these shocks on my truck. I lowered my truck 5/7 and needed a stiffer, shorter shock. It seems the main advantage is that they help counter the bouncing a lowered truck wants to do when going over humps. They won't eliminate it but they do help. My last lowered truck had KYB's and the front end was pretty bouncy when going over humps. I would recomend these shocks only if your truck is really low, like mine. They are stiff but it is neccessary to keep the truck from bottoming out all the time. If your truck is only slightly lowered I agree with gchemist, go with a more high performance designed shock.

my 2 cents

forgot to say:
these shocks are not just shortened they are calibrated with a different psi for a lowered truck

I have a 3/5 drop, with the body also dropped 1 1/2" over the rails. No parts are bolt on,cut coil front,& rear axle flipped/hangers relocated,& a couple leafs removed. It doesnt have a bad ride,or problems with bottoming......maybe the best way would be to fab some shock brackets & run a good set of Monroes. 69 longhorn
