Wheel Adapters anyone using them?

I have an 86 GMC short bed and I am thinking I would like to go to a new style 6 lug wheel which would require the use of a wheel adapter. Any problem in using them? Would like to hear from those that might be using them or thoughts about them! Thanks

do not use wheel adapters.....they can break and push the wheels out to far

I used some on a 8 lug square I had a while back. Used later model 8 lug aluminum wheels, never had an issue. Torque them down correctly and use loc-tite on the threads, and you're golden. On that note, I would never use them on anything bigger than a stock tire height, too much stress on that small of an area.

Thanks for replying! I was thinking going from a 15 to maybe an 18". Think that is to big a jump? Just doing some thinking right now, have not bought any adapters.

Re: Wheel Adapters anyone using them?

If you are adapting a 5-lug truck to 6-lug I highly suggest you don't.
Those are some scarey adapters that bolt together.
Use aftermarket 6-lug rotors and new rear axles.

Just be warned that most 6-lug wheels are for the 99- up silverados that have a smaller hub bore than your truck.
Most 6-lug wheels used on pre-99 trucks are custom built.
(unless you are talking 4x4 wheels)
Not enough info to know what you are doing,...
