Rattle in the dash/steering area under hard acceleration

In my 1972 C10, under hard acceleration something in the steering column, steering wheel, or dash near the steering wheel vibrates and rattles. Any commonly loose things I should check first?

Welcome aboard.
Start with the steering wheel. Column inside cab and lower end under the hood. Feel for looseness. Does the truck have headers? Broken engine mounts? Things like that.

Speedo cable is a pretty common problem, those plastic gears get worn.
