Clutch and flywheel
I just bought a 69 C60 with a tall deck 427 and a 5 speed, the shift pattern says it's an Eaton and definatly not an OD. It has a bad flywheel. I've asked in the heavy hauler section with no luck and have been beating my brains out on what flywheel I need. A link would be great or a place I can call to find out for sure. I figured a clutch since it'll be apart anyways. Any help would be appreciated.

What is wrong with the current flywheel? If it is the starter ring gear, those can be replaced separately. No need for a new flywheel.

Dont' have to get a new one. You can buy just the ring gear. Cut the old one off, stick the new one on the grill or in the oven, get it nice and hot, will almost fall into place....

You need to take it to a machine shop to get the flywheel re-surfaced, so get them to install a new ring gear too.

It looks simple enough to do but like you said while it's there they can do it. Any idea what a rough cost is to have it resurfaced?

I've been quoted in the $40 to $50 range to resurface a ford I6 flywheel. Your's should be similar unless it's a lot larger diameter.

I've never had one resurfaced before. I was planning on doing it either way just didn't want to get hit with a ridiculous number walking into it blind. Thanks for the info

havnt had one resurfaced in several yrs...but it was $30 last time...so $50 now wouldn't be bad

Two step flywheels cost more to resurface but if it’s flat as a Chevy one is we charge 35 bucks. Any time a clutch is replaced always resurface the flywheel. It’s like doing brakes without turning the rotors and/or drums.
