I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd share some information. My build is a '70 K10 with 5.3L LM7 (see my build thread below). I was planning to use the Doug Thorley TRI-Y headers (THY-324Y-C), but they hit the firewall and won't work.

I decided to use the Speed Engineering model 25-1021. The short-to-mid length header. I was considering their long tube headers, but their website specifically states they do not fit 4WD. I didn't want to chance it.

I fit up the headers and so far they look good. I'm happy with the choice because I'll have to custom fit the exhaust around the transfer case cross member anyway. If I went with long tubes, I believe they would have come down lower and pointed directly at the cross member and it may have been more difficult to pipe around.

The one thing I just decided to do was to have them ceramic coated. The price of these headers is so low that the ceramic coating will cost more then I paid for the headers. IMO I don't care for the look of stainless headers after they've been on for a while and discolor. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid that with the ceramic coating. I'll keep you posted on that.

This high pipe out of the Thorley headers hits on the passenger side firewall. The headers below it are for my '71 C10 project.

These are the Speed Engineering headers I'm using.

Fit up is pretty good on both sides.

Agreed. I think with 1-5/8 primaries they'll be OK for my stock 5.3 LM7 swap.

As a follow up, I just received my Speed Engineering headers back from having them ceramic coated. Inside of primaries and collector ends are fully coated.

Those are sweet man. I DEI wrapped my long tube S.E. headers but I will eventually get them coated like this.

Those look super nice! Still a bit cautious of using them for my overdriven and slightly modded LSA.
