Rear end swap

Will a 99-06 Silverado rear end fit my 66 width wise, I know the brackets don't but I am more worried about width since it is getting air ride, Thanks in advance

Re: Rear end swap

No it will be a bit wider. I don't have and width numbers for differentials that new but a '97 truck differential is 3-5/8" wider than a '60-'70 truck 12 bolt.

Re: Rear end swap

Thanks guys well the problem I am facing is mounting the transits on my rear axle, what do you guys recommend? I've been trying to see which rear disc brake conversion makes the axle flush with the rotor but have no luck yet.

Re: Rear end swap

I make 2 rear disc conversion bracket assemblies for 6 lug, but I have no idea what you mean by 'axle flush with the rotor' ?

Re: Rear end swap

There is really no point in me spending the time to develop something that there is already many to choose from. What differential do you have?

Here are a couple of sources that make excellent brackets for rear disc conversion as well as several other things 4x4 related.

Re: Rear end swap

I actually dont know much about it except that its 8 lug. We drug it out of some guys barn last year, got it running, then winter hit and then my to do list got really long...lol. Ive done some searches for 8 lug disc conversions but haven't come across any thing. Don't really need it , just seemed like an interesting project...if things ever slow down...in retirement. I'll check those sites out, Many thanks
