Heater Control Valve

I am restoring a '55 2nd series with a deluxe heater. I recently purchased a new control valve for the heater. The new valve assy. came with a small spring holding the control actuator in one position (open?). It seems as though this valve would be very difficult to actuate with the dash temp control and the spring in place. Does this spring remain on the control valve or should I remove it before completing the assembly of the heater unit.

Re: Heater Control Valve

i believe the spring does stay on the valve unit - it might be a lil tough to open in the beginning but as you use it -it should be a bit easier - well.......at least that is what mine did - do a mock up trial run if you can -- and hook everything up and try it out a few times .good luck !!
