Question about houndstooth upholstery material

A few year ago I had my bench seat reupholstered in black vinyl with the inserts on both sides of blue and black houndstooth. A couple of months ago I found out that USA1 produces interior door panels with the houndstooth inserts to match. As it turns out, my truck seat has a more muted blue and black, and the new door panels are more of a brighter blue, leaning towards aqua - so they do not match at all. Has anyone else used the blue and black houndstooth, and are there two colors of it like I have encountered? I guess I thought the blue and black would be the same when I ordered without thinking it through. Any good sources for material to have these panels redone locally? Thank you

Hey Ned, glad you found the answer to the houndstooth colors, now maybe you could share it with others who may have the same question.
Thanks.

Re: Question about houndstooth upholstery material

Here is a Chart from my Upholstery Matchup Book from the 70's,
You can see the original Houndstooth colors compared to what is available now.
some are still sold through SMS.

Re: Question about houndstooth upholstery material

Awesome! If SMS has 472, I think I am in business.. I'm in contact with them now. USA1 sent panels with something like 388 - too "Aqua" ... Customer service from the panel vendor is not good - so thanks for posting this!

Re: Question about houndstooth upholstery material

The SMS samples, (three of them) arrived yesterday. Sure enough, one of them matched perfectly. Ordering some today, and will hopefully get the door panels re-done over the next few weeks for some pics.
