Re: 350 heads

As long as you can mill the sealing surface should be fine. You can polish the chambers if you like. Looks like they used blasting to clean the heads. I would have them checked for cracks when getting them resurfaced.

Re: 350 heads

Okay, thanks, milling would change cleances and raise compression, i think. I have read up a little bit on that, not sure i wont to do that, but the price for heads is a hood deal, wth rollor rockers, but no push rods guy wont $500. Hmmm what to do.
Again thanks for the input

Re: 350 heads

If the matting surfaces are good don't worry about the combustion chambers. It is debatable whether or not if there is any benefit to polishing combustion chambers. Especially for a street vehicle. If the price is right and your happy go for it.

Re: 350 heads

My biggest concern is that the heads have been on a "racing" engine. Ask if he would stand behind them after they are checked for cracks.
World product heads are made of very good iron. I'm thinking you should be OK.
Did he say what size the chambers are???

There are some scotchbrite flappers that attach to a mandrel that you could use to polish the chambers...

HO, are you a member on performance years??

Re: 350 heads

Thanks a lot for the additional input I do appreciate it the heads have 2.02, 1.94 valves, 64cc chamber, 200cc intake runners, i offered the guy 300 and a 12 pack. And we closed the deal. Now i just have to figure out push rods. He didnt have any spares.
Again really appreciate the feedback and input.!!!!

Cool!!! Do you have dished pistons??? 64cc chambers on a 350 will have fairly high compression with flat top pistons. It can be made to work, other engine components will have to fall in line to make it happen, though...

Re: 350 heads

Get a push rod checker from summit and measure the required pushrod. The wrong length can cause a lot of issues. That will be a hot little motor with that much compression.

Yes, I do troll over there from time to time. I don't think I've posted anything in quite a few years. You must have been pretty deep in the archives to make this connection.

No, I've seen you post here. HO455 could only be a Pontiac...LOL
I'm an expert at nothing. I post there some, if I've been there, and done that. Thankfully Cliff still posts there. He's (LOL) done a great job of shutting off the Pontiac folks from using E-carbs...

Your compression ratio is close to 10:1. With the correct cam you can make your combo work.

LOL, there is not a better carb than a Quadrajet. It will need to be calibrated to your engine specifically
Your quadrajet can be made to work. You need to contact Cliffshighperformance.com You need to email him. he can sell you all the parts for your carb to make it shine. His stuff isn't cheap, but is worth every penny Get his Q-Jet book!!!
Have him recommend a cam for your combo also...He is the answer man!!!
