Chopped top on a burb

I know there are some very nice suburban projects going on. Many have some major sheetmetal mods, like Hart Robs and Frizzles. But I've never seen one with a chopped top. I always thought the roof line was kinda high on these burbs and was wondering if anyone had pics or even photoshopped pics of burbs with a flatter roof or chopped top or any other roof line mods.

I'm not on my home PC right now, but that green/silver one that was in the pics behind the tan/white crewcab had the dome chopped.

Ya i have seen that green/silver one very nice the same guy owned the crew cab, There was one at Grant Custom's with lots of mods on it (chopped, dome chopped, flush glass etc.) it was at resolutions in tan primer a couple of years ago but i have never seen it finished . Anyone else see it or know where it went?

Sounds like exactly what I would like to see. I don't mind the taller body on the 4x4's, and even some 2wd's when the paint scheme minimalizes it. Otherwise, I like the flatter roofs of the trucks.

That thing has a ton of mods. I'm not sure if they flattened the whole roof, or sloped it from the front. Looks like a little chop and they cut a couple inches from the bottom too. Very interesting.

Re: Chopped top on a burb

Thats the one i seen ,that thing is wicked. I think they chopped took the crown out of the roof , slanted the window back etc, etc, etc. Anyone know where it is now or if it was ever finished?

Re: Chopped top on a burb

I'd be interested in seeing more of a flat-top Suburban. Not an actual chop-top, but just flattening out the crown in the roof, so it's got a flat top more like later model Suburbans. The trick is the rear hatch or barn doors.

Anyone ever seen this done?

Nice! So do you plan to use the roof off a donor vehicle? Any idea how you'll deal with the lift gate or barn door height? Looks to me like that's the biggest obstacle.

Definitely interested in following your progress on that.

The link to my Burb build is below if you want to check it out, right now I am just working on the 4th door.

I will be using the original roof. I want to keep as much of the original metal as possible, so I will be doing relief cuts (similar to this)

As for the lift gate, I plan on doing a "chop" there. I think there is a slight ambulance look to the rear as stock. I will position the window where I think it looks best. I amateur photo-shopped a picture I pulled off eBay a few years ago. This is a 2wd, but I just wanted a profile pic to play with. I stretched the rear doors in the photo, but I don't want to do that any more. I may or may not do the kick-in on the rear...
