Blazer help

Newbie to the board, so if this needs to be transferred to a different form please do so.

I have picked up a 78 Blazer and have started to get it fixed up and have run into a couple of problems.

1. The windshield wipers - When the wiper motor is connected, the wipers will run a full speed. When I try to turn them off at the switch, they will turn off for about 20 sec, then start back again. I have replaced both the motor and the switch. Any other ideas?

2. The speedometer and odometer don't work. I have tried to located the speedopoter cable from the firewall but can't fine it. Where does it come out at?

Thanks for any help

are you sure that there is a spedo cable at all?

Re: Blazer help

Welcome, nice Blazer.

I don't know about the wipers, but the speedo cable should come out close to the column, and connect at the transfer case on the left side. If you have cruise, there will be a box on the left fenderwell that will have a cable going into it from the transfer case, and from the box to the speedometer head.

Re: Blazer help

Well finally had a chance to work on the speed o problem. Replaced the cable, but speed o still doesn't work. I did test it by hooking up a drill to one end of the cable and the other to speed o. The speed o did move, so it looks like the problem is with the speed sensor on the transition.

As for the windshield wipers, I am still clueless.
