Lowering shocks

Hi all.
I recently traded my 70 SWB step side for a 68 SWB fleetside that the previous owner lowered 3 inches in front and 2 inches in the rear. The rear shocks need to be replaced because they are damaged (looks like they may have been installed upside down at one point) and the fronts look like they only have about 1-1/2 inches of travel before bottoming out. What's everybody using for shocks on these lowered trucks? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

allot of vendors here sell shock relocation brackets to help bring the shocl back to a more vertical position and there are even a few treads on the forum that show how to make your own. With the rear being lowered and you are replacing the shocks you may want to think about doing this as well.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping there was some info on some vendors selling shocks specifically for lowered trucks.

Out back I would relocate the mounts an keep stock height shocks if it is only 2" lower. In the front (I am assuming the lowering is from shorter or cut coils due to the limited travel you mentioned) I would call Early Classic and get a set of KYB lowering shocks.

Jim here's what I used for my 67 that I dropped 4" in the front and 5" in the rear. I paid less than $65 for all four KYB shocks. Truck rides great even with 20" rims on it. I'd try just the shocks 1st then get the rear shock relocaters it you think the ride it too bouncy. Hope this helps.

The front is lowered by drop spindles. Not sure the shock travel is normal or not? Maybe there is only 1-1/2" of the chrome shaft visible in a stock application?? I think the back will handle stock shocks as you suggested. Is there a relocation kit available or would I have to fabricate some?

Thanks for the link! I've used KYB shocks in the past and found them to be very good. I'll give them a try for the truck.

If you only used front dropped spindle, nothing in the suspension travel has changed. You would use stock length shocks.

Absolutely, Get stock height shocks all around. KYB and Monroe Sens-a-trac are awesome and affordable options!

Relocation kits are available from Early Classic, CPP, and other vendors. SoCoC10 is on to something though, swap shock first and then, if it is till too soft for you use the relocators.
