Tri5 55 build

I’ve been posting on here for quite some time and was urged to create a build thread, so here goes.
I purchased this truck from pictures from the seller, he told me that it needed work but runs. I also had the truck trailered to me in the purchase price.,
Truck arrived with other goodies that I didn’t know anything about; the seller was great to give me another cab and bed.
Taking it off the trailer. If you look the lower left you will see a FFR Cobra under constrauction.

Re: Tri5 55 build

So I started looking at putting the new bed on the truck and using the cab for parts, but the extra cab is a big window cab. Can you say swapping cabs.

Re: Tri5 55 build

But my neighbor came over and started looking at the truck and said I almost have 2 trucks, so I stated thinking and looking around and found this. Had to get it fixed, it was a hacked job but the price was right.

Re: Tri5 55 build

After repair, I didn’t know fab work was so pricey! So I bought a little 110 welder for cab repair.
Sourced the frontend parts from the same guy I got the frame from, got to know him better after telling him about the crappy job on the frame, he told me that we would give me a rear end for all the trouble I went through, it was a 9” out of a Torino but was open diff which I later sold to recoupe some of the funds from the frame work

Re: Tri5 55 build

Cleaned and painted the frame, and sent the cab out to get blasted and cleaned up.
Found a 2001 LS1 engine, trans, wire harness and computer for a good price.

Frontend and portions of the bed on frame. Got my doors, they’re in great shape, very little surface rust and round the corners.

Don't know what happened but I got a wild hair to reprime the truck in black, don't ask why.

Looking good. Seeing all those holes in the firewall is giving me flashbacks. I had like 47 in mine to fill.

Here's a video of the motor running, that's before I installed new cam, heads, timing chain, oil pump, lifters, injectors, under drive pulley, 3500 stall and FAST 92 millimeter intake and throttle body.

Re: Tri5 55 build

Remember how nicely painted the frame was, well I decided to change things once more. Boxed, notch, bagged and new brace.

I love your build! Did you get someone to make a drivshaft for you?

Re: Tri5 55 build

Thanks for the compliments guys, I'm hitching to get it done but not putting a timeframe on completion.

Bennsimmon05,
I got this driveshaft from a friend but I thinks it's out of a early 70s camaro.

ChuckDriver,
They are, how did you know that? I filled the area for the grill attachment.

Re: Tri5 55 build

The grill holes are still visible in Post #4 & #9. Truck is looking great! Are you mounting the battery under the cab with the SS box?
