Help me decide of factory style wheels?

Hello I've got a 68 c10 long box and I love the patina on this and want to keep this as factory as possible with a slight tweek in ride height and wheel size! Truck is a 292 six with power glide and 20,xxx miles on her so she's pretty untouched! First thing I did was put a 2/3 drop into it and fix the old wood in the box! Now my main question is what size tire and wheel combo do you guys think would look good? It's got 235/75/15 on it now and in my opinion they look alittle to tall? Also I want to keep the steel 15 with centre cap look but I think these rims are probably 15x6 or 7??? Also what colour do you paint the rim? Body colour, blk, white??? As you can tell I'm alittle lost on what to do? I also like the white stripe on some of the tires I've seen! Thoughts????

Looks perfect to me. I wouldn't put smaller tires on it, the taller tires on it now fill up the wheel well and actually make it look lower.

I like the look.
You could also paint the wheels body color, or Argent silver ([IMG][/IMG]Original Stock).

Also, the black rims give the illusion of a taller side wall. Painting them silver or adding chrome trim rings would divide the rim from the tire and make it look smaller.

Re: Help me decide of factory style wheels?

I'd go with silver, or gloss black with trim rings. Might be hard to find white wall tires like the red truck pictured above.

Re: Help me decide of factory style wheels?

if you got rid of the chrome bumpers for painted white bumpers and then went with red painted rims you could have a red white and blue truck to show off your patriotism and we could adopt you from being foreign

I have those same hankooks on mine. I was pleasantly surprised when they came in with a white stripe. I thought they were just blackwalls.

A tire can never look too tall IMO. I think the way you have it right now looks good!

Here are some options for you to see, in addition to your black wheels.

Maybe a little difficult to see the Argent Silver but the truck is also light blue like yours.

The blue 68 is mine. All wheel sizes are 15" X 8". Three are factory originals and one is an aftermarket unit by Wheel Vintiques 12 series smoothie.

Re: Help me decide of factory style wheels?

[t does look good with painted rims and caps. and appeals to a broader customer base. I had the same delema with my 72 but the choice was easy because of what I already had, ..painted rims and caps. I have a 68 k20 and same problem ...same choice. factory looks best.

I do like the rally's since seeing them on this forum.

A 292 powerglide combo is unusual I sure would like to peek under the hood if any pictures are available.

Did the 60's trucks come with these wheels or is this a 70's style?

Re: Help me decide of factory style wheels?

The rally wheels did not come on anything until post-72 era (they are just a very popular retrofit and clear disks with a 6 lug pattern). Your tire size is perfect for this era of trucks - don't change-a nothin. If you way to leave wheels black, that's a good option. If you want bone stock - go silver. If you really want a whitewall, I'd go white painted rim. Careful to not mess up a good thing - sometimes we tend to think different than what we currently have is always "better" (I'm guilty) but what you have is pretty perfect as is. Also - trim rings - did not come on these trucks. You can add them, but don't think you're doing it to look original, they are not. They destroy paint and powder coat, so once you put em on, ya gotta keep em on to hide the hideous scrapes. I'd skip the rings personally.

Re: Help me decide of factory style wheels?

I think white looks good, but so does body color when the color is light..like your blue. I wouldnt think the tires are too tall, and being from Winterpeg with the fabulous roads a little more cushion never hurts!! Nice truck!!
