Run your horns straight off the battery to test them.

Re: Horn No Workie

the ground for the horn is the horn bracket that bolts to the radiator support

Re: Horn No Workie

When you take em off to test them at the battery, give them a couple of whacks with a hammer to free up the contacts inside, you'd be supprised how often that is the cause of no workie horns.

Or roll down the window and shout.....BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!

Re: Horn No Workie

All great ideas. I'll give them I try. I have cleaned up behind the bracket on the core support, anf on the bracket for a good ground. I have tried teh direct to battery as well. I still need to whack it with a hammer and yell Beeeeeeep out the window though.

Re: Horn No Workie

Well, I tried both and they both made a diffference. First, the yelling out the window; it works....then the whacking with a hammer. It works too.

Thanks Guys

Good deal! The nicer the PO, the more they tend to freeze up. I think maybe in New York City, a horn has never stopped working from lack of exercise.

I haven't tried this but one of our members says that if you spray WD40 into the horn and let it sit overnight, it will free up and lubricate the horn diaphragm. It makes sense and won't hurt a thing.

Ditto. Also, put another horn on with it. Mine only had one so I got a high/low setup with two horns and now it has a presence. My stock horn was so rusted (even after WD40) that it sounded like you were strangling a goose when you hit the horn. Still distinctive and made people laugh too but not what I wanted. I got two horns at a garage sale for 5 bucks. Never know what you'll find sometimes.

Love these trucks.
