How did you derive 3" for the Marking of the Fender??

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

I measured the overall width of my rear end with all 4 tires and wheels installed, and determined how much of the stepside fender I needed to cover the outside wheel.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

I finished mounting them today. Here are a few pics of the mounting brackets I welded on the backside. I used a total of 10 bolts and they pulled the flares up nice and tight to bedside. Now I am going to take them back off, and strip/sandblast and POR-15 the back side. I am trying to decide whether to use seam sealer or fender welting between the flare and the bedside. I'm also going to fill the marker lights on the bedside and the flare since its a '67.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

I like the Way that you Did that, Seem's a Lot Better than welding it up. If you ever were to get any Damage to one of the Fender's you would be able to Replace it...............

Thanks for Sharing, Rick

PS, I Think i would go with the welting

I think I am going to go with the welting. There are several different kinds, but the kind I think I'm going to use is extruded urethane and is smooth finished opposed to the textured kind made from vinyl. The urethane type also has barbs on the flap to hold them in place.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

looking good!

sometimes i think these trucks should've came dually with extended fenders from the factory, they look right with them.

i also like the bracket mounting idea. practical, but still looks really good.

i can't wait to see this thing get closer to coming all together and getting to be one color and enjoyed.

i'll be watching.

keep up the good work!

No worries, I love talking about the the ol girl! It's definitely gotta have brace rods. When I cut the wheelwell off the fleetside bed, it made the whole bedside kinda floppy. I have some from the stepside parts truck that my fenders came off of, and some off of a later model C3500.

I just got done marking and drilling the holes and mocking up the driver's fender. It measures up the exact as the passenger side, so I guess my fab skills aren't as bad as I thought. The tape line is where I am going to cut out the fleetside bed for wheel clearance like a factory dually pickup is. I still have to take the stepside fender off and do that, but I wanted to make sure everything was concentric from side to side. Here are some more pics.

After I get the bedside cutout, I'm going to put the outer wheels back on and see how it looks.

Funny you should mention that; I almost had my passenger side fender tore off yesterday on a multilane highway, there was a accident and someone swerved left and almost bought the side of my truck.

Just about every dually pickup I've ever owned had at least one cracked or broken wheel flare. Another factor is that I am not confident enough in my welding skills to weld that much on sheet metal without warping it up like a pringle! Your welder knows his stuff!!

Well, I succeeded in getting the tires mounted on the rear. It looks much better with them, obviously. It has the short, stocky stance that I hoped it would. I think this thing is gonna look tough with some paint on it.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Looking good. Makes me miss mine more and more. Mine is sitting in the garage getting ready for winter. Had it to a show 3 hours away from home 2 weeks ago and she has been sitting since. Probably going to be sitting for another week as I am going away. Makes me sad. At least seeing you working on yours makes me feel better.

We have sweltering hot summers here, which sucks, but the mild winters make up for it. It has not snowed here since Jan 2002.

I love to be able to build a dually like that. You have done a great job with the fenders. Cool idea with the pencil. I would have never though of that. Excellent job!

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

That black one looks like a decent truck! I sported mine around this evening for the first time since I got it all mocked up. Got a lotta looks and double takes from a bunch of folks. I took it to a few of my buddie's places and showed to a few guys at couple of shops I deal with. Like a lot of people I told about what I wanted to do, they didn't "get" my vision until they actually saw it. A few even admitted that they didn't think it would look good w/o actually seeing it.

Thanks! There's definitely an altitude difference!

I digitally removed the side markers on the rear, and it cleans up the look a lot!
