Late 70's bed (long stepside) on a 67??

Would this be a good fit? Wouild it look good, terrible? Hard to shoehorn on there? I need a 67 long bed, and have had a 79 long stepper in really good shape offered to me. Just needs wood for the floor. This is for a truck truck, not a show rig. Have also found a factory Chevy flatbed, not sure what year. This is for a 67 3/4 ton long bed 4x4.
Opinions, thoughts, experiance anyone?

Re: Late 70's bed (long stepside) on a 67??

I can't believe no one's tried a later 70's stepside bed on a 67-72. Have been searching, but not finding anything. Anyone tried it?
Thanks.

I've seen a later 70's short step on the 72 and back trucks and they look alright, so I would guess the long step would fit as well, but I hav no idea what kind of fab is involved. I think the flatbed would probably be easier and less fab work to install though .

Thanks. Can't believe I couldn't find a photo of one, but couldn't. I'm leaning to the flat bed, but this step bed would be free.

Never imagined seeing such a long bed made from the 88-98 Sportside bed. I guess that anything is possible. Only bad thing about this is the mis-matched wheel openings, but that's my take on everyone of them that have been done.....usually short and now long.

I think the long step from a 73-87 is rarer than one for our years, but if you have one it should pretty much bolt on. The wheels may not sit centered in the fender wheels though. You could mod it to fit our years fenders, but you would also need the long bed step plates too.

I like what they did with the 88 up bed to make it fit.

Re: Late 70's bed (long stepside) on a 67??

I've seen the 80 something beds put on. The 79 looks a lot like the 67-72 style step beds. A friend is restoring the 79 and has a perfect bed to go on, offered me the old one (beautifull shape). The biggest difference i see is the wheel well seems to be more square on the 79. Problem is, I don't have my 67 here yet, so can't measure, or play with it yet. I thought if it was nearly a bolt on, i might go that route. The price is right.
Thanks for the replies.
