I just worked yesterday to complete a job I needed my '72 for because of the ladder racks. They'll be spreading salt soon and I won't drive it in that stuff. I hope I don't get any calls for work needing my tall pump jacks and long walkboards (20', 24', & 30'). The truck did great for mme since the end of July when I got it going. I put 4,500 miles on it.

Nice old pictures. I miss back when you'd see these trucks still earning their daily keep. Just a truck, better than most, with things added that made it better for you. Not, "Gotta get this thing done for the SEMA show! Call NotU Fabricators and see what the hold up is on that $2k bumper designed to look tough but no stronger than stock"

Yep, very nice! I like them all, but that Jimmy with the 11' lo-pro gts me like nothing else. Probably because it's like nothing else. I never knew of cab & chassis 84" cab to axles being offered in single wheel. That thing is all custom. Just what I needed for my siding business for hauling 12-13' boxes and long poles/walkboards on a 15' ladder rack on a long bumper to bumper truck

I could use this:

Re: Pic Thread: 4wd Work Trucks

Nice truck to pull with. I bet the truck enjoyed it.

Been working out of the '72 for a while now. Still doing it well.

EDIT: I don't know why this site turned the last picture sideways. It's normal on my computer. What do I do, edit the picture in my folders to be sideways so it will be normal here?

Re: Pic Thread: 4wd Work Trucks

Thanks. Yours ain't too shabby either. I'd like to give it a rest and make it all pretty, but enjoying as it is still. I didn't buy it to work like this. I had the two '72 K/20s and this was to haul a 4Wheel Camper, but life takes it's turns and we just need to keep it on the road. Now I want to restore it as a period "cool" work truck...like I wish I had back then. Looking to put a Stepside with tool bins or low-profile utility body and a winch on when I restore it. But the wide bed is great for now for running the racks, cap, or nothing.

Since this is a picture thread I'll add in some pictures with the cap I got before Spring Carlisle. That was work for the K2500. It's job was to haul the stuff to sell and be my motel all weekend. This truck's other job has been hauling parts to swap meets since I started doing that in '07. It's been a good ole truck

Your '72 looks sharp with either the rack or shell. What size lift and tires?

Re: Pic Thread: 4wd Work Trucks

Thanks. She's gettin' a little rough around the edges. The outer rockers and one corner, of course, and the dang paint on the hood and fenders is popping off. It's a repaint that was on it and older when I bought it in '01. You'll see a little split like a scratch. Next thing the edge lifts and curls up. I have other fenders or the resto, but the hood needs to be stripped. I think I'll swap it out when I park it for winter. It'll have a fresh painted hood for the spring. Makes me want to go all the way. But just want to preserve the hood for now

4" springs in front. The rear has 2" blocks and Add-A-Leaf. I did that hoping to have a heavier duty rear suspension than lift springs. But I didn't get the 2" out of the Add-A-Leafs. So... would like to do new 4" rear springs. Those are 285/75-16s on 8" Wheel Vintiques skid loader wheels . That's what my friend and I call them.

EDIT: I can show a few varieties with that truck since it's had several wheel/tire combos on it and now 4" lift. It was going to get a 6" lift with 37/12.50-16.5 Super Swamper SSRs (1t axles/TH400) on 8.25 steelies but I decided to stay original and more subtle.

The last picture shows it with 33/12.50-16.5s & 8.25 wheels. The orig. front springs were seriously negative with maybe 1" to snubbers. On the back it had air shocks that I never touched till the lift. GMCs have that little spacer, less than an inch, and the P.O. added a solid block of steel 1". So it had a rake (hated it!). Kinda looked like a pull truck

The third it has the lift with 255/85-16s on 7" Accurides
