Old air under dash vents

I'm about to pull the trigger on an old air ac system. I want to use the under dash vents, I'm concerned about the driver side vent interfering with 67-68 emergency brake handle. Anybody done this?

Re: Old air under dash vents

You will need about 3 inches from the kick panel and 3 inches down from the dash to clear a round under dash vent. The rectangle under dash vents hang down about 2 inches and are 6 inches long. On the Vintage Air kits you get round vents that go in the dash so there is'nt any clearance issues. Hope this helps.

Re: Old air under dash vents

so I was just looking at the OLD air under the dash units, I am guessing that you are removing all the factory heater parts??

Re: Old air under dash vents

I am curious to know myself. All the installs I've done have been 69-72 with the foot pedal. Can you provide a picture with measurements from dash down to handle and from handle over to kick panel. I don't blame you for not wanting to cut the dash, especially if it's a done truck.

Re: Old air under dash vents

The handle is 2" (tapers up towards the column) down as it passes the plane of the dash.

Re: Old air under dash vents

I'm not done with interior and console yet but we did the under dash vents and matched up the spacing side to side. We simply turned the parking release lever 1/4 turn. It's actually easier to grab on to.
