'95 Stereo R & R Question
How?
I have the standard AM/FM and am installing a factory AM/FM/CASS/CD. I have the face trim off the dash. I expected tosee some obvious way to remove all parts top to bottom. So what do I need to do?

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
IIRC they aren't screwed in, there are tabs that hold it in. They are on either side, can use a small screw driver to push the tabs down, they can pull it out.

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
You'll have to fish in a short wire harness between between the main radio and the CD player.
Be careful with the tabs on the hvac controls, they are very brittle. |

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
I got into the dash this morning while waiting for a friend. I posted this before I started prying on anything. He showed up just as I was posting this thread. I'll take another look and if I don't figure it out I'll show a picture. I remember seeing what could have been tabs (white) at the ends. Not obviously tabs, but the rest of the stereo is grey. I've never been good with this modern plastic clip together BS and other methods of fastening. Give me a screw, nut, or bolt. I have the tools.
I think I have everything for the CD. I got a little harness with it.

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
I think the stereo will be the easy part. The thing that brought me here to ask was how to remove the cubby slot where the CD goes. I haven't looked at it since yesterday morning and had to put it back together to drive.

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
I found a video on pulling the CD and that is held by tabs. Nothing on the cubby, but I'll assume it mounts same as CD. That would be how GM used to do things. Hopefully still, but they've let me down on later stuff a couple times. I hope to get back to it this weekend. I got this stereo for the postage and my cubby sent back to him. I need to complete the transaction.
I never intended to do a whole lot with this Suburban. But you know how it is with our type. Always room for improvement and the music matters. The dash is all busted up from the county boys pulling the sherriff's equipt. out. I have another one that has been waiting for this. The steering wheel is not only all worn bad, there is a chunk out of straight-up dead center. I have a nice upgrade wheel waiting. The base vinyl bench seat has had some breaks in the edge since I got it. That's the next thing I might go after. I know where there's a blue rear crew cab seat, and you know those are the same and many were seldom used, like this one. But... what I really want to do is buy buckets and console. I want a nice cockpit. It has the rubber floor with a heel hole to the floor pan from go foot. I plan on putting regular cab pickup carpet in once I do something for a seat.

Re: '95 Stereo R & R Question
Junkyard near me has a couple crews with blue vinyl seats. Been awhile since been there so who knows what shape there in now.
