Widest rear tire/wheel

Just wondering if anybody knows the widest rear wheel & tire combo that fits in the 60-62 stepside trucks? I have a 73-87 rearend in the truck and I believe they are just a little bit wider than the factory rear. Anybody have a certain combo under a truck like this? Thanks

Re: Widest rear tire/wheel

1.5” wider than stock to be exact. Have you tried to search for rear wheel width?

Different years but you will get the idea.

Re: Widest rear tire/wheel

Thank you I will check them out. I’m hoping to squeeze 10” wide wheels in the back

Re: Widest rear tire/wheel

That's not going to happen with the wider differential and a stepside, especially of you are lowering the truck. Unless you have wheels made with a special backspacing and you add a small inner wheel well.

I lowered it some when I originally owned it by loosening the torsion bars. (It's a 65 on a 62 frame) The previous owner lowered it even more in the front, and also in the back.
I haven't looked closely, so I'm not sure what he did to lower the back.
It does have air shocks in the rear, so I can get the back to go back up by adding air.
