Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Mule and I made another trek to Baton Rouge today. Besides breakfast with a great group of friends, a couple of us went to a local car show to raise money for a HS ROTC and Band.

Some pretty nice rides at the show
https://goo.gl/photos/rKFc956fAU6bYdWk9

So racked up around 300 miles today on the Mule. I guess someday, I'll slow down on the driving and start work on it again (probably not till I break something )

Looks like fun. Don't slow down driving it, keep up with maintenance and it will out last us all.

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Coming home from work last night, stopped by to fill up the MUle with Petrol. As I was leaving, during my shift to 2nd the whole shift felt weird and the Mule would not come out of 1st. Luckily it was only about 3 miles to the house through residential areas, so at 25-30 in 1st the engine was not wound too tight.

Had no idea what it was, but it had to wait till today because

1. I am to fat to get under it's low belly
2. It was too hot (outside and exhaust) to grab anything.

Got under it today, and turns out the bolt that holds the shift assembly to the transmission came loose, so the shifter was just flopping around on the bolt and not engaging the arms. New lock washer, some loctite and we are all good again.

I also did the windshield arm changeover today that was mentioned in this thread.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=736564

They came out great. Since I don't have the stainless windshield trim, the black arms look really good. I always had trouble with the blades coming loose from the arm, so this looks like a good option.

I didn't have my phone or camera, but I'll get some shots of the new arms later.

So from dead to Kick a**. Time to go driving!

Do the stock wiper arms not work well?

I always had issues with replacement blades fitting onto the arm. I normally would have to zip tie the blade to keep the little tab snug that holds it onto the arm.

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Mule and I did our cruise to Baton Rouge for breakfast today. No issues on the drive. It sure felt good driving the Mule after 2600 miles in the wife's Honda. I feasted on some Honduras' coffee my some got me while he was there on a mission trip, then filled the travel mug and head out at 5:15.

Had a great time with the folks. It was a great day for driving. Got home and the Mule visited with Whitey.

Shifter is super good now. Other than that, the Mule seems to get drivien and the parts just keep piling up next to it waiting for me to do some stuff with em. Some day.

Happy for you getting to drive the mule with so few mishaps. Shows how reliable these old trucks can be. A little maintenance here and there and off you go. Congrats Bill, keep on truckin'...

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Man it has been crazy. The poor Mule has been locked up for 2 weeks or so. Between getting my son ready for college, and the weather (the kind Mule does no do well in) I have had barely time to look at him. The rain has been crazy, but luckily nothing dramatic for damage, just wet.

Since I get a break for a couple weeks from college preparation stuff and hopefully it will stay dry enough for Mule to come out and play this weekend

This is what we saw from the front porch during Cindy and her aftermath.

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Well it was dry enough for the Mule and I to take a trip over to Baton Rouge. Little rain on the way over. Had a good time and breakfast with some great truck guys. Had to end a bit early cuz standing in the parking lot in the rain, well seemed less than smart.

Ran into something on the way home. Took 90 mins to go 1.3 miles. Rain and humidity had me wondering if I should have gone in Whitey with AC. No issues with the Mule except tach quit working correctly. I made it, but it makes you wonder sometimes about manual trannies in circumstances like this. never saw what caused the tie up so I assume there was a bad accident that got cleared by the time I got thru.

Just a custom emblem. Just a 1970 C/10 that owner added the 454 to.

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

At the top of the available trim levels for 1969 10-series Chevrolet light trucks was the CST trim, or Custom Sports Truck. I think that was what Rian wanted to know . Nice looking truck though Bill and with plenty of punch
