Re: My 1959 GMC patina fleetside project

I ordered my Moser M9 rear end, 31 spline, 3:89.1 trutrac, 58in rotor to rotor and centered at 29in. I am running Detroit steel 20x11 5.5in back spacing so everything should fit in my fleetside bed. I'll post pictures when the rear end comes in.

Re: My 1959 GMC patina fleetside project

A little update my moser rear end came in and here are the specs:
moser fab 9 in 58 in rotor to rotor and centered at 29in. I am running Detroit steel wheels 20x11 with 5.5 back spacing. With the tires installed on the rear wheels hey are 12 in wide. Witch give me 1.5 in space between the tire and four link and about two inchs between the tire and fleetside bed. The gears I am running are 3.89:1 and 31 spline axles. If you have any questions or need picture with different angles to help you with you built just let me know.

Re: My 1959 GMC patina fleetside project

I'll jump in for updates. Nice project so far, I love the fleetside Jimmys!

I lived in Yuma from 87-91, my sister's in-laws still live there as well.

Re: My 1959 GMC patina fleetside project

I agree, a very very nice job so far. Nothing cookie cutter about your build.

Hey, just a thought because of your bed floor raising mockup photo. I’ve always wondered why guys don’t use some of the space created below the bed floor as additional storage? Seems like yours would have significant room on either side of the driveshaft not to mention a hinged (or hydraulic?!) partial floor would make all the nice work you’ve done on the rear suspension visible. Anyway, just a fun suggestion.

The wheels are 20x8.5. 4.5 back spacing and 20x11 5.5 back spacing Detroit steel wheels and I sent them to calchrome.com in Valencia CA to have them copper dipped with no clear coat. I am planning on letting them patina before I clear them.
