Totally Original 58k Mile GMC Longhorn

I looked at this truck a couple of years ago but didn't;t want to pay what the seller wanted. Well a friend of mine just recently decided to pay the asking price and now owns it. Its a 1972 GMC Longhorn that had one owner, who passd away about 10 years ago, before my friend bought off the original owners son a month or so ago. Truck ws special ordered in and its main prpose was to haul an 11 1/2 foot Camper and at one time hauled the Camper and pulleda good sized boat as well. The truck has 58,000 miles on it and is aas original and clen as they come. the original owner had a local Texaco Station and I remember him with that truck in 1975/76 when I called on him to sell parts . I'm attaching a link to the thread I posted when I first looked at it as the 16.5 inch rims with P01 Hubcaps.

Only took 20 years to sell it. First saw it when I started my job over 20 years ago. My boss Merv owned Glenwood Esso and knew the original owner well. It was for sale then. He left this world without getting his price. The family finally got her sold. Nice truck!

I saw that for sale as well, nothing I’d ever buy but I didn’t think the recent asking price was that bad if I remember correctly.

Re: Totally Original 58k Mile GMC Longhorn

Totally original with a few choice add-ons that were originally added. Such incredible original condition. The original owner '71 Custom Camper I bought in '89 and drove till '04 was in this condition with 71k miles and I thought that was incredible.

I remember those headlight 'globes'. Pretty cool touch! I'd have to flip those mirror head arms back around the way they were designed to be so I could turn the mirrors back in to "no camper/no tow mode". Mine always got flipped back around as part of removing the camper procedure... along with snapping the tonneau cover on.

So what kind of money did it take to buy this truck?

Hmmm. Looks like it has a Holley spread bore carb, they made 650 cfm units and 800 cfm units. the 800 is no longer made...

Re: Totally Original 58k Mile GMC Longhorn

I looked back and found the ad, the owner also added the vintage vehicle sheet to the post. Funny how there were so many longhorns made, would not have thought it would be over 600 for a speciality truck.
The sheet I got back from my 70 gmc stepside had half those number produced.

Doesn't look like something I'd search to buy, but if I had the $$$ and ran across it, I would buy it!!!

Fry, that is the ad recently posted by the current owner and he has it on a Facebook Group and the 17,500 is US dollars.

Special K I never tell what someone has paid for for truck.

He is fishing with it. He bought the truck cause its so nice and totaly original but really wants a short fleet to keep. Problem is they are super hard to find up here and yes there are lots for sale in the USA but the prices are up there and when you figure in currency exchange taxes and shipping they get real expensive.

I never ask the buyer. I thought you could tell me the asking price listed in the ad is all. It's not like it was a secret with it being listed for all to see. But that's ok, I don't need to know, just curious since we are discussing the truck.

Edit: I can understand now that I see your friend is flipping it

It will if you have the 16.5 inch adapter rings.

I found 2 of these in a salvage yard back in the early 2000’s. They are still out with my other PO1 covers.

Re: Totally Original 58k Mile GMC Longhorn

Since Firestone 9.50s aren't offered with white letters (I don't think) I wonder if there is a white ply in them (doubt it). If they did you could get Diamondback Classics to make you a set of narrow whitewalls to complete the look. That would double the conversation piece nature of this feature. "Is this a half ton that was stretched with 2500 badges added?", "Nope, nope, nope, nope, it's an 8-lugger 133" all day long".
