Any salvage yards for our trucks ?

I need some odd bits and pieces that would only come on a truck I think. Any reputable yards out there?
Also just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a balancer put on with black silicon ? Thought maybe a hack way to fix a front seal? But that wouldn't work. Surly it wouldn't have been to make room for a loose balancer/crank snout ? that would be nuts right? Just curious. Thanks Charlie

Re: Any salvage yards for our trucks ?

Well, I have seen some weird crap done by previous owners. It wouldn't surprise me what someone might have done.

There is not much in the way of specific year yards out there. Depending on what you need, much is reproduced so you just need to do some Google searching or check out the companies (like Classic Industries and such).

You could become a supporting member on this forum and post up a WTB ad in the classified area. You can also search the years specific area in the Classified Area. Craigslist is another place to search. Look for folks parting out a truck.

Try Aspen Auto out of Arizona. They are a junk yard that specializes in 1960-1971 Chevy Trucks. www.aspenaotoaz.com

Dennis Chevy. I ordered a bench seat and park lamp bezels for a GMC hood from him. Easy to work with. Looks like he's selling his business, though.

Re: Any salvage yards for our trucks ?

pretty common to use a little sealer on the inside of the damper to stop seepage past the keyway. Not usually silicone , but I guess any port in a storm

I'm going to vouch for this guy...I think it is Rj's in Colorado. He has a whole building full of old parts (at least he did several years ago)...I was able to find some ultra rare trim parts...and the guy was reasonable. Ton's of stuff...

I'd call him and tell him what you need...or what you are looking for.
