That's exactly what I have in my 85 with Vortec 4.8. Works great. I have another one for my 84 that's getting a 5.3.

So I can hook the wire from the ecm directly to the speedometer and the speedo will receive the 4000 ppm from the ecm.

Yes. Look at the pinouts for your year and the year of the cluster here:

Make sure the rest of the gages are wired correctly but there are no adapters or anything special required between the ecm and the cluster.

Re: 91 suburban electronic instrument cluster in an Ls swap 86?

Hey guys. I did the conversion and it worked great for a week and then the speedometer strates freaking out. One time you drive it and it works the next time the speedometer will be at zero then goes to 70 then pegged out then anywhere in between. It doesn't seem to be a broken or loose wire. The odometer always works. Any ideas out there.

I've been trying to find a mint one for my 87 when I swap. I've passed on a few locally for a great low price but now I need to locate one.

Do you just run the ECM output to the speedo input on the cluster?

Re: 91 suburban electronic instrument cluster in an Ls swap 86?

My speedo does the freak out thing from time to time. On mine, it is after sitting a few days or in damp weather. Once the cab warms up or dries out, no problems. I think it is the speedo itself not a connection. It is 26 years old and was sitting in the donor for no telling how long..

here's one on ebay....https://www.ebay.com/itm/88-91-OEM-C...ZaVXCt&vxp=mtr
I've got one but I'm not 100% sure I want to sell it....and if I did it would be the whole gauge set........
