I was running street rod "peeps" on mine. Not as much mirror to show what's behind you if you are backing up or pulling a trailer, but enough to let you know what's behind you as you rumble down the road.

There is looks and there is functionality.

I have the chrome tripod low profile mirrors on my '71 because I pull trailers with it.

I am not sure what I want to put on my '67 when I start working on it though. Maybe the sport style mirrors. That was what was on my '72 GMC and they were a good all around mirror.

my truck has the arms, but both mirrors are missing. It had the sport mirrors, probably the way I will go, but I like the "peeps", any photos?

i actually think the bigger mirrors look better on these trucks. the small mirrors are sporty looking but not much better than no mirrors at all after and really look more in keeping with cars or show-only vehicles. it is nice to see variety though, especially if the mirrors are vintage correct. modern mirrors look out of place on our trucks.

my dad had a 72 burb with the tripod mirrors (the really short tripod arms) and the big/tall mirror heads. he made spacers using a piece of rod and a longer bolt to put the mirrors out farther for trailer towing and left them that way. his second truck was an 84 burb with flip out stainless towing mirrors with the same size heads. that was the first truck i got to drive and those mirrors are awesome. when my dad got his present 87 burb 10 years ago i realized that no smaller mirror will do. the 87 has those large sport mirrors with the big chrome chunk on the door. they are much better than the sport mirrors on my 72 burb but i really prefer the flat glass and extra height found on the tripod and towing mirrors. it makes backing up and lane changing sooooooooo easy because the view is so large and clear.

ttt - I am in the same boat here an having a tough time deciding on a driver side mirror. I have the one piece windows and consider my truck bit of a lowered custom pro touring truck. I would be curious to see what people have used on there trucks.

I once saw a truck with the older 90's Toyota flag stle mirros painted body color. They also have them in chrome. It looked good, not too small and not too big. Would be good for a lowered hot rod style truck.

I GUESS IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE TRUCK FOR LOOKS. I'VE SEEN MORE PEOPLE RUIN THE LOOKS OF THESE OLD TRUCKS BY PUTTING THE WRONG MIRRORS ON IT.

I PERSONALLY HATE THE LOOK OF THE OLD FORD FOLDAWAY MIRRORS WITH THE ALUMINUM FRAME. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY THIRD TRUCK I'VE EVER BOUGHT (& I'VE BOUGHT A FEW

) HAS HAD THEM ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE A NOS PAIR OF STAINLESS "WEST COAST" MIRRORS IN MY SHOP FOR MY 69 TOW TRUCK AFTER I PAINT IT.

I'm looking for what I always called the "West Coast Juniors", sorry no photos. Narrower than most ones you see (say 3" wide x 15" tall) attaches to top of door frame and top of door. Have no clue of their worth function wise, just think they look cool.

I'm my search for a photo I found that what I always called the "trip-pod R/V" mirror is actually what GM named the West Coast Junior.

I've got two sets of what I'll call BIG west coast mirrors (anybody need a pair?) that say fom*co in small letters (sacrelige!)

I really like these that senior member "WWOTR" has on his truck. It was funny because I was just reading that and said to myself-"self I would like to know where to get a set of those" then wammo this thread pops up like magic!!!!! any one know where to get them?

Was looking on the brothers website and found these, I think they re a good twist to the vintage look. Only offered in brushed but will see if I can get them chromed. They also have rectangle shaped and peep mirrors

The sport mirrors from 70-72. I can understand if you are pulling a trailer or hauling the need for a bigger mirror. I moved mine up one body line becasue I couldn't get the passenger side to work right mounted where it was supposed to be mounted.

Stock mirrors are the best looking mirrors because they were designed for these trucks.From there you decide which one suits your needs.If only concerned about looks,no mirror at all looks best...a real clean look.The car mirrors,I mean Sport mirrors look nice and so do the stick mirrors (67-70 standard mirrors).But,dents in the back of your truck don`t look too good.On 4wds and working trucks I use real mirrors.On little car-like 1/2tone I use the standard mirrors for the year the truck was built.Peep mirrors are for early 50s-back cars.

There`s two kinds of mirrors...ones that are good to look "at" and ones that are good to look "with".I`m a truck guy,so I don`t get hung up on mirrors.They look right no matter which,just like a boxy body style with a huge open box on the back and a tailgate.I think they all look good.On my little`67 shortbed 2wd lowered hot rod truck I`m going to take original stick mirrors in stainless and shorten them up.An original mirror will never look out of place,not then,not now,and not ever.It`s just a part of the truck.It`s like paint colors.Some will like and some won`t,but if it`s original you can always say it`s just the way it is.If you go and do your own thing,like putting space ship mirrors on,it can always be asked by those who don`t like,"why?".The thing is,you might end up being one of those people.Ask me how I know
