thanks, i wish i had a headliner, would have done it to, so i took out the dome lite & visors & roof brace screws & shot some expanding foam in there. i'm hopeing with a "tub" of deadner & mlv from the windows down it wont be to bad. when you banged on the body anywhere it was like twaang, now it's a dead sounding thunk. my buddy who is real old skool ( & a cheapie) thought i should use lead (we're in the roofing industry-easy access),but like you say, weight, i'm already 7800lbs

some updates
prev. owner installed different mirrors. somehow he could not utilize any of the existing 6 holes(sigh,bang head). the top 2 holes he drilled were fine as they went threw the mirror brace, the 3rd one on the bottom was unsupported & the metal was ripped an inch on each side of the hole. welded up & bondo'ed the holes & tears, also put a 8" long piece of flatbar on the insides of the ripped holes to support the mirrors better, especially with my camper clip-ons

rear pass. door had serious dent in it with poor body work, outer skin was coming off the door, found a rust free '77 sub door. had to slightly bend rod to fit the inside handle from my '85, also, sadly had to cut speaker hole in virgin metal so it would match the other p.o. installed door speakers(siiiigh!!)

splashed some woodland(forest ranger) green on it for now


finally got my new dash & some billet to bling it up. also painted my kick panels black


cant afford over $200 bucks for new sills right now, cleaned up the old ones for now. dirty/clean

also fixed & added a few things. bought a receiver tube, welded some plate on it & mounted it on the front.will be used to haul our bicycles when camping. with literally 1 inch of clearance on each side, i can now drive the quad trailer into the garage instead of backing in as well


got rid of old weird camper plug & added modern 7 pin

fuel gauge took a crap & went to 3:00 last fall

looking better now. sender wire got sliced by a clamp

Have you tried lining the inside of the doors with sound deadner? Them things beat like a drum with sound and road noise. Prob the worst other than the back of the cab and the floor.

yeah i did, the whole inside of the doors are deadened plus mlv on top of it. when you tap the doors now, it's a SOLID thunk. cant wait to hear how my stereo sounds. just ditched the brake load sensing stuff, re-plumbed the lines, need to bleed them, also cant put my driver's side doors on till i get it out of the shop. my dd insur. is due this tuesday as well, so i'm hoping to have it on the road in a couple weeks. then see if all this pays off

doubt this will help quietness, but oh well. 28 yr old rubber b.mounts were not looking good(as well as some cab lean). hardware cleaned up nice with some new gr.8 bolts.




also ditched this mess(brake load sensor), re-run new lines

^^^nah, just been driving it for the last few months.
difference is like nite & day, far exceeded my expectations. stereo sounds a lot more thumpy now (almost like i added another amp & sub) with no rattles anywhere, & can talk in a normal tone at ANY speed now. some noise comes in when the windows are down, but buttoned up, it's 10x quieter
anyone looking to quiet there ride, i would not hesitate to recommend MLV

Sweet. Good to know man! I'm thinking loading up the doors has a huge effect. Seems where a lot of the noise comes from on these trucks

well, after searching the web & junkyards for front & rear black door panels for the crew, was looking at $7-$800 shipped across the border, & almost nothing in our yards, decided to try painting them.
never really painted plastic much before (except for models), researched everything & the best paint to use, read every thread on the board about it, & general consenses everywhere is SEM.
these are older pic's of the int.

see what i mean by accessary holes- look at the old dashpad & tranny hump

awhile ago, i think it was skunksmash, had a thread about inner door handles "bent in". sure enough, mine are bent right in.

bent the stop till the handle was straight, then tacked a piece of metal to hold it in place

as good as SEM seems, don't think it would have worked on the map pockets, which are a ridiculous price for new ones, just to stuff lint & garbage in them, so i sticky taped some diamond plate over the holes untill i can find some reasonably priced black ones.

kinda an overall view

thinking i'm going to outline the pebble grain part in silver so it matches the dash, & to break up all the black, door handle bezels. maybe take the seats apart & paint the plastic on them.

my door panels are basic custom deluxe with 1 screw hole in the handle cup, yet i see the bezels have 2 screws. does the front screw just screw into the door panel? anybody with the bezels know?
