It's a daily driver so it's actually truck bed linered, it's aluminum.

The Jeep tank is easy but only 15 gal. and sending unit does not match our gauge.

You will need a sending kit as well

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

It seems obvious but don't overlook the need for venting. I saw an unfinished truck at a car show that looked like the tank was collapsing. The sending unit vent was capped off and the fuel filler cap looked like maybe it was of a non venting type.

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

My problem with most tanks is the filler location in the bed, which I don’t want. So I decided to go with a 69 Camaro tank with the license plate fill location. I’m currently mocking this up and will try to post some pictures when I get time. I’m at the end of a resto and haven’t put the bed boards in my 66 longstep, so the tank stuff is a LITTLE easier. It DOES put the entire tank below the frame rails, but it’s still way above the diff., and I’ve coated the tank with bed liner while it’s new and clean. Look in the FAQ section on gas tanks for K1rodeoboater’s write up, but his is an older truck and I think the bed rails were wider?

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

Oops, never mind the FAQ reference, none of the photos are there due to photobucket issues, I guess.....

Have you posted pics of this anywhere? I like the idea of coming out behind the plate. It's not an expensive tank either.

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

I used tanks INC mustang style tank and mounted it in between the frame rails on 1x1 tubing so I can take it out later if I need too. I did have to trim a 1/4” Off either side of the bottom frame rail

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

I think the part number is mu-t and takes aftermarket fuel senders. It’s modeled after a 65-68 mustang tank. I have not put the floor in yet. Good thing is it came with two different necks that bolts to the top. I’ll see if I can find a pic if not I’ll take one next time I go to my shop.the measurements or on tanks INC site

Re: Rear mount gas tank?

Not all tanks created equal....49 to 52 chevy pass, this has a smaller inlet 1 3/8 side fill with vent. I just went thru the side of the frame.
