'99 GMC Z71 door lock question.....

So my doors are apparently programmed to lock at like 30mph which doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when you turn off the truck they don't unlock. You have to unlock the doors manually. Any ideas? The manual doesn't mention anything that I can find.
Thanks,
B

i dont beleive anything can be done from factory but we have installed many remote starters in these vehicles and turn on ignition controlled doorlocks, so when u turn off the vehicle the remote starter unlocks the doors.

The doors should unlock when you put it in park.

Re: '99 GMC Z71 door lock question.....

I tell ya I just about hate these auto door locks. Been locked out more than a couple of times by them locking themselves with me on the outside looking in. I have a spare key stowed where I can get to it.
Mine lock at 15 mph and unlock when the key is turned off.

i beleive that after 99 or 2000 is when they started the unlock after ignition is turned off. But before that the option wasn't there. had the same issue with a grand am.

Re: '99 GMC Z71 door lock question.....

wow, that sounds like kind of a PITA.

My '02 unlocks when put in park, must be a sensor for "P". Works everytime, never been locked out either, knock on wood!
Sounds like this must have been added after your '99 was manufactured though.
