A/C setup on 235

Anyone have pics of the vintage-air setup on a '47-'55 235 6cyl? I have a '50 3600 with a '59 235 and would like to see how the compressor and condensor is installed. Thanks.....

Re: A/C setup on 235

did you try the search? somebody posted pics of a very clean Sanden compressor install on a 235 awhile back. It looked like it was born there.

I've look through the search feature. all I found there are v-8 installs on custom front ends. I'm just looking for a stock install on a 235 L6.

Re: A/C setup on 235

My install is on a 57 truck with a 235, so the engine compressor mount should be same for your install. Condenser? I don't know. With the alternator swap, it kinda covers up the compressor a bit, so it was hard to get a picture of it real well. I routed the discharge and suction lines under the engine along the frame and used cushion clamps to secure it.

The brackets in the vintage air kit are produced by alan grove. Went to his site and here's a good pic of the install.

Thanks for all the responses and it looks like a good time to go with an alternator upgrade.

Re: A/C setup on 235

JB, thanks for stopping in. Yours was the setup I was thinking of.

Alan Grove stuff is good. real good. That's a clean setup with short belts and good brackets.

Think about it, your generator isn't going to be able to keep up with the A/C anyway. Good time to retire it, have it bronzed or something.

The condensor is mounted in front of the radiator as usual. No big tricks there.

Re: A/C setup on 235

I used madelectrical.com for all my alternator conversion stuff. His site is genius! Still gonna do his headlight relay upgrade. I put in an idiot light right above my parking brake warining light. Works like a dream!

Re: A/C setup on 235

Any recomendations on a vendor to get this a/c package from. J.B. Thanks for the pics. That is the kind of install I would like to achieve in my 3600. Did you say Alan Grove produces th emounting hardware for Vintage air? Is that the same kit available from Jim Carters?

Re: A/C setup on 235

I bought my V.A. kit from Impala Bob's here in AZ. It is beneficial to me to purchase local, use cash and have it drop shipped. I don't use credit cards and using cash is often easier to get discounts! When I received my unit, it had the a/c brackets in a box that was obviously from Alan Grove. VA didn't even repackage it.
Some of the brackets you cant see in the pictures are the new ones that are used in place of the original generator brackets. I painted the brackets using high temp gloss engine paint. If I had to do it over, I would have sent them out for black powdercoat.

Thanks JB. I believe there is a local distributor next town over.
