cleaning auminum serp brackets

I am installing serpentine belt system from a '94 on my '78. It is a used set up and the aluminum brackets look dingy and a little crusty in places. Has anyone come across a good simple cleaner for these? I doesn't have to be show quality or look like new-just decent. I know there are some cleaners for aluminum wheels and such, but don't want to throw away money on something that won't work. Thanks in advance!
