What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

I didnt do anything with the 82 this week. I did take a ride up to Higganum Conneticut to buy seats to replace the ones in the S10 that the baby elephant sat on . As per every s10 ive ever seen i had to do the repair to the armrest (a writeup is one on the S10 forum) and then for valentines day i took the wife out for dinner last night and she bought me a radio for the s10 so i could listen to my country music, This week I have to get the wiring harness and the kit to put it in.
Last but of news is I got a new phone this week and im still trying to figure out these new contraptions its a my touch with web and all

How about you all???

We have not done much. Just hanging out, watching Olympics and Nascar. Today we got the kids some balloons and rubber balls. Dang Valentine's day is easy for 1 & 4 year olds. I might do a little work on a couple truck parts if the race doesn't get started back up soon.

Re: What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

For the 79 I just baught: Last night I took the running boards off

Today I took off the factory window tint and used coke/tin foil to clean rust off the front bumper. That stuff works like a charm!

I also WD40'd the hood springs and other hinges.

I attempted to spray the inside of my toolbox with bedliner. But 3/4 of the way through the first coat I ran out of it and the gun kept clogging. So I took it apart and it's sitting in some lacquer thinner now.

looked at all the snow and kept say melt will you, just melt. Looked at my truck covered in snow and got my self a sports bumper (from a blazer) after trading my blazer rears i had. Also bought a trans that thought to be a 350 turned out to be 700r4 (was not there to verify) o well ill make this work even tho i truly am afraid of theses transmissions

Ya them guns suck. I was doing a bed liner on my 85 and it kept clogging too..Since then I picked up the Al's line brand in my shop and I have been waiting to try it out. Their gun looks much nicer, sorta like a big hopper paint gun or a drywall texture.

This weekend I just went out to put out some hay for the cattle, and tried to finish up an 96 Impala I am working on in the shop.... Other than that kids and I hung out while momma was out..

Re: What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

Learned far too much about horns today.

Did find the faulty ground wire that had my fuel gauge pegged two inches past Full! Nice to have a fuel gauge now.

Took door panels off and worked on lubricating window tracks that were acting stuck when I tried to roll then down.(works great now)

Last but not least as the sun began falling and the shop started cooling down I managed to simply clean the floor of the interior of this "new" old truck and installed new floormats! I deserved an easy installation to end the day.

From this:
To this:

A productive day in details on this 'new' c-30 truck.

Not much truck related. Did go to Lowes and got hardware for bags/brackets and cups to mount. Ordered big brake front kit and rear...woot.
Got the leaves picked up front and back, finally, was nice in N. Florida today.
Sat around and watched the near 7 hours of Daytona...
Truck should be back this month...I have heard that before.

Re: What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

went to check out some transmissions, and rear axles but the guy wouldnt sell it to me. said that the 7004r wouldnt work with my truck.

came home, kickd a few rocks, then decided to instal a LED light bar on my truck, didnt like the way it came out, so i yanked it off, then messed with it a little and ended up doing this. it has stop/turn and reverse on it. should i leave it of take it off?? i kinda like it...

I've been running some new wire and flex to replace some that was cracked and brittle. Got my booster assembly ordered from CPP, you know that special he had posted on here for $299.00. Got my license plate light working. Took my friend out to eat for Valentines and just got home.

I sprayed my bed with it and never had ANY problems. Sprayed a wood box with it yesterday no problems. Went to use it today and it decided to act up on me.

A hopper gun would be nice, I hate toting around the can of stuff and keeping the hose down in it.

Re: What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

Nice and sunny here in the Sierras of California. Truck related I sprained my middle finger LOL. Sprained it getting some seat belts out of an 87 4x. Passenger side is good, drivers side is junk and they don't match mine in my 1980 I also snagged the 87 chrome bumper. Found out the side brackets won't bolt up to my 2wd frame and behind my bent bumper is a bent frame So much more in parts and nothing going together yet

So I did a couple of hours weed eating, mowed the lawn and drove 80 mile round trip for a cement mixer that was junk. didn't buy that one.

Oh yea I did remember it was Valentines day (by 5:00)

Guess I should have stayed home.

Thursday I learned how to drive on the snow, what a experience that was, every time I would stop there would be a mount snow under my truck causing the tires to spin so I would have to back up and plow through it, Friday I decided to drive my jeep to work kept it in 4 high just in case

Spent all day saturday hooking up all the little odds and ends on my motor and trans in my blazer. After 3 trips to checker I finished up everything but the exhaust. I did get it fired up for a sec, made the whole day worth it! It's alot easier working on something the whole day when you are in a heated shop . managed to buy roses and take my wife to dinner too. Spring is looking better and better.

Re: What did you get done 2.14.10 valentines day edition

Lil Red had a big day Saturday -

First, a quick bath....

Then, we hauled some old pallets home, to cut up for the woodburner....

Then, a rescue mission: helped out a damsel in distress (aka my daughter) who ran out of gas on one of the main roads.

After that, a nap!

Sunday we drove down to a Valentine's day party, about 70 miles each way. Got lots of gawkers checking out the shiny paint and wheels (!) including a guy in a grey primered '86 or '87 2wd swb.

Put new 4.88:1 gears in a 2008 wrangler rubicon (real pain with e-lockers).

Changed rear gear oil on my 91 K5, added a front drive shaft spacer, and removed the degree shims from the rear spring packs to correct the pinion angle. That eliminated a bad drive line vibration that was driving me crazy. It rides as smooth as factory again!
