Grill trim clips

I'm in need of some clips for the upper and lower grill trim. Does anyone offer them? Or does anyone have the part number.

Re: Grill trim clips

Yeah... about that. It's possible that some of the items you see listed in the catalog are not actually available for sale anymore. This is particularly true of any NOS/OEM items. You take the time to research parts and prices then you whip out your credit card and sign off on a big chunk of money. But it's alright because you're getting good parts for the truck. Then you get an email informing you that - essentially everything you ordered is NLA or as they put it "out of stock" and won't likely be restocked.

That catalog they use as an inventory database has no basis in reality. Check the bottom of the pages - it's the 2013 catalog:

It gets worse. 2013 was the most recent year they issued a new catalog, but all they did then was alter the year. The actual catalog was printed in 2011 and hasn't changed since:

It's not just the T&C Shop, they all do it.

Re: Grill trim clips

I saw that. Do the 83-88 trucks use the same grill trim?

Re: Grill trim clips

If the item is not in stock,it will show $0.00 when you go to the shopping cart.

No, there are different grille molding configurations and part numbers for the various model years as below

76-78, 79- 80, 81-82, 83-84, 85-88

That's what I was wondering about. A stock 1976 GMC grille didn't have upper and lower molding. There were just two L/R hand pieces in the center:

Here are the 3 different grille designs for model years 1979 - 1984:

Up until 1980 the molding still consisted of just two center pieces. It wasn't until 1981 that the 4 piece border design was introduced.

It appears that your grille is not stock for a 1976 GMC. If you have upper/lower strips - and two L/R in the center, it is a Chevy style (the Chevy style had upper and lower moldings even back to 1975). If it has upper and lower with two side pieces it is 1981 or up. That could make your search for the appropriate molding fasteners easier.
