Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Got tons of work done over the weekend. I managed to snap in both defroster vents in the dash. Seriously, I did get the heater box (inside and out torn down and primed. Going back through all of it and replacing the duct work hoses and gaskets for the blend doors. Once installed I will post some photos. I will say I was really worried about the defroster vents not snapping in. I had read on an earlier post that someone had bought some aftermarkets ones and end up gluing them in. I got these from LMC, they snapped right in.

You've done an awesome job so far. I have to ask, since I didn't see it (sorry if I missed it), what are the specs on your wheels? They look like Coys C-57's. Are they chrome of polished? What size and backspacing did you get?

I love the color combo. Keep it up!

They are Coy chrome twenties. Not sure on spacing, I will have to look and get back with you. Thanks for the compliment, it has been a lot of work. Oddly enough the wheels were on the truck when I bought and I decided to keep them since I like them so much.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Got the heater box inside and out scuffed down, holes filled from whatever was attached to it over the years and painted. The blower motor worked very well so I cleaned it up, painted it and reused it. Replaced the resister in the heater box. Used the gasket set from LMC and it worked and fit well. Even came with some black rtv gasket sealer. The heater core came from Federated Auto parts and fit well also. Cleaned and lubed the factory cables. The worked well and seem to be in good shape. Very pleased with this part of the project. Moving right alone. Getting ready to order a complete new harness. Any ideas on who has the best, price & quality?

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Now that I got the heater and all in, I wanted to move over to the other side and get the brakes completed. Started to tear down the original booster and heard something rattling around in there and final was able to pull out a snap ring of some sort. Sooooo, I guess I will get a new booster and master cylinder. In the mean time I cleaned up the proportioning valve and bracket for it. I am going to get the brake pedal assembly painted along with the brackets that the booster attach too.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Very Productive Day. Got the beds hung after taking a trip to Lowes and making some A frames to hold the beds up so we could paint both side. They are finally done and now drying. Maybe get to sand and buff in the next day or so. My Dad did an awesome job painting them. Going to be slick. Oh for note. The bedsides were brand new so didn't need a lot of work, but we did do a lot of blocking. They fit very well.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

On the flip side of things, got some petty things done, like installing all the rubber bumpers in on the dash for the ashtray, glove box, and top and bottom doors. Also added in all the firewall groments. They all fit really well....yeah right. Nothing a little silicone wouldn't handle.

Nice job on the bedsides, glad to hear they fit good. I'm going to be running aftermarket ones too.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky

Pretty productive weekend. One bedside has been wet sanded and buffed. Turned out super nice. Also got my radiator cover on that I bought and some brake stuff painted and put on. Not pictured is the to kick panel vent doors that I replaced both seals painted and put back together. Hopefully this afternoon we can get the bed side put on. Scary....

Got what I feel is a lot done this weekend. Got the other bedside on so now just need to finish up tailgate. Got my American Auto Wire kit in and started that. Got the bulkhead in and everything started where it needs to go. Go the completed back in completed in terms of tail lights, etc.
