02 silverado ,brake lines

How bad a job? The shop said 6 hrs labor , with a total around 7-800 bones. The hard part, is that the rusty old truck, isnt worth more that a couple thousand or so , on the market...any thoughts/ advise? Longhorn

Re: 02 silverado ,brake lines

I did my 03 with the prebent stainless kit from rockauto. The lines look great and were very close to stock. That being said I already had the bed off to paint the frame. I believe you could do it with the bed on, but it would be a bear. Also I had to remove the driver cab mounts and driver core support mounts to jack up the cab 2 inches to feed the lines through, no way around that from what I saw. I think if I were to do it again I'd get a roll of the nic copper bendable line and make my own lines. The hardest parts of the job were getting the old lines off the abs module under the cab and feeding the lines between the cab and frame. I think with taking the bed off I had between 8-10 hrs in the job. Marty

Re: 02 silverado ,brake lines

Thanks for the reply, it looks like the lines run around 150 (local Auto Zone). It may be a pain in the arss....but the old truck is not worth much? I need to take a look/see, before I call it parts! Thanks again, Longhorn
