Brake light switch on 2000 Silverado

My brake lights are inoperable. They work with my trailer brake controller though, weird.

I'm thinking it's the brake switch. Fuses are fine.

How do I change it? Tips, tricks?

Re: Brake light switch on 2000 Silverado

How about the third brake lamp[CHMSL] does it still work? I think it is not operated off the same circuit as the rear lamps and I know it is in a different wiring harness. I have run into this before and it turned out to be the switch on the column. The customer could not understand why the turn signal switch had anything to do with the brake lamps, but they aren't called a combo switch for no reason. Jim

Fixed. For some reason the switch housing was broken. Biggest thing is getting the clip off.
