Door lock problems

Hey everyone,

So I just tried to lock my doors after not locking them in a few years and I’m having some issues. The key turns to the right and the door locks but when I turn it back to the left to remove the key it unlocks. I tried locking the doors from the inside and they only lock if the key is in the lock. I assume there is an issue with either how the locks were installed or the actual cylinder but it’s happening on both sides so I assume it was something I did years ago when I put the locks in. Help me out because I now need to lock up the truck at night and I cant.

Thanks

Re: Door lock problems

Can't really say, but if you remove the panels and watch them work maybe the problem will reveal itself?

Re: Door lock problems

RedBed is right, you'll need to take your door apart so you can see what's going on inside.
Check youtube for videos. That is were I have gotten most of the help I have needed for my truck. Just do a search for 80's Chevy Truck and then the issue. In your case door locks.
