What should i do to rust in cab
I was getting ready to change my front window on my 71 C10 and I noticed on the inside of the cab above the Rubber seal. Quite a bit of rust that's eaten through the cab maybe a quarter inch in some gaps and some minimal what should I do with these gaps should I fill it in with Bondo? I don't know what to do does anybody have any ideas?

Please post pics so we can see what your dealing with.
The only real fix for rust is to remove it all.Bondo over rust will only lead to bigger problems.

Picturing it in my head, the last thing youd want to do is fill rusty holes with bondo...you've got to neutralize and remove the rust...grinding, replacing, and welding is the only way to fix it properly....

Re: What should i do to rust in cab
Assuming front window means windshield, this is from the seam sealer in the gutters failing, or possibly the rubber windshield seal failing to keep out water.
Sadly, the solution is pull the windshield, remove the seam sealer in the gutters, blast and start metalwork. |

This may not be something you want to learn how to weld on....thin sheet is not fun...especially if you cant access the backside....

Re: What should i do to rust in cab
You'll want a MIG welder, preferably not flux cored MIG. Something along the lines of a Hobart Handler 140 would work and not break the bank. A miller 211 or similar from lincoln or esab would be a good choice if you think you'll want to weld other things in the future.

Re: What should i do to rust in cab
I would look at the Vulcan welders...we're using them at work and I have to say they are one sweet machine....mig/tig/stick.....110 or 220....harbor freight sells them.....it welds smoother than my Hobart 180... and I agree shielding gas only....no flux core....
