Those wrap arounds look a lot more difficult to install. Good luck with the next appointment!

Re: A 61 Chevy C30, 9 foot stepper Called "Big Boy"

Looks to be an experience issue, The gasket has to be all the way installed along the top before the bottom will swing in with someone outside gently pushing in and up. (one on each side is better) Do not hit or it will break. The rope didn't work for me but it went in easily anyway. Make sure it is centered and use a little lube on the bottom metal to let it slide in. (none on glass or the gasket will slip off) Use a hook tool or just your finger. Lots of tape to hold gasket in place. Pretty easy if they have done one before, maybe try someone else. Might also get better price.

Good info, That's exactly how it went down. Came down to experience and will. Thanks.

Re: A 61 Chevy C30, 9 foot stepper Called "Big Boy"

Done....

Carlos came up from Miami to handle it. He told me from the start "Im don't know if we're gonna get it in but we sure as hell gonna try." That's what I wanted to hear. With that drive and a little wisdom from my neighbor who helped his brother build a 59 Chevy arrow (I attached pics) Kind of same color i was going for. But his wisdom and knowledge of such situations helped us get this done. Im very greatfull to him and carlos from Autoglassstop.com. I can sleep now.

Below you'll find pics of my neighbors brother's 59 and and pics of Big Boy with new green tint windshield. Enjoy..

Now Big Boy.

Big step to getting Big Boy on the road. New glass looks great with your little helpers cleaning it.

Thanks man, it was a long day. We ain't gotta worry about the everglades bugs in our face now. lol.
Yes my 5 kids love the old boy. My little boy calls it the old man truck. They grilled me the first night with a bunch of old truck jokes. My 15 year old was like, "Does it come with a walker?" My son " I guess we don't have to worry about dad speeding anymore." lol

We all agree that this truck found a home. We are glad to have a part American history on our driveway.

Didn't do much to it today. Was hoping to get the brakes done today but spent the day in buying stuff online for it. Got some interior parts.

I recently decided to sell it since I don't have the space to work on it. I will continue to work on the body while we wait for the next owner.

I feel your pain, Big boy wouldn't even fit in my garage, it's hard to get around in my garage with my 8 footer in there. There is also the little ones issue, my truck was a storage bin for 20 years until my kids went off to college. Never had the time to work on the truck when they were little. Keep us posted and good luck

If that's the case, then Precision wants $38.81 ($130.21) more for the same gasket you get from Steele for $91.40. I'd go w/Steele.

Re: A 61 Chevy C30, 9 foot stepper Called "Big Boy"

ahhh...that sounds more like it. I know classic truck parts sells the precision brand for around $35.
Thought it was funny the manufacturer wanted more than one of their vendors. Wonder how the prp gaskets are. 1st time I'd heard of them, but always nice to have more choices...especially if they are quality parts.

Re: A 61 Chevy C30, 9 foot stepper Called "Big Boy"

So since the wife kind of put me on a budget to control my spending, I decided to get creative and pulled and old trick out of the hat. I decided to get one of these little 83 Toyota corolla in really good shape and a perfect candidate for a quick flip to make a little profit for the truck restore. Kind of a quick project flip within a project flip. I got this thing for dirt cheap and Im know to turn these little racers into a pretty penny. I spent the day doing the bodywork which was a cake since it had no rust and no dents. Yea.. Few bucks at Sherman Williams Automotive for a clean white which i should be spraying by the end of this week and went by my buddies wheel shop for some ideas. Came home with a sample to see offset and decided on the blue since the orange wan't the offset stans look I was going for.

Forgive me for bringing a Jap car into a Heavy Chevy forum but the idea is to make some cash to help the restoration along.
