Headlights Stopped working

Hey Chevy People,
My headlights on my '72 c10 took a dump all of a sudden last night. The toggle switch looks good, and other lights (dome, parking, etc.) work fine. Have any of you got an idea what might have happened/what to do?

Re: Headlights Stopped working

use a tester for power at the socket.
If you have power at the socket then it's a fault in the ground
Bad ground is often the culprit.
Also check socket plug connector for corrosion.

Re: Headlights Stopped working

So you have a toggle switch?
You should use a tester to see if you have voltage at the headlights and along the wires that go to the headlights.

Re: Headlights Stopped working

My headlights [Hi + Lo] went out when my dimmer switch went bad. That's the toe-operated one on the floor, left of the clutch pedal. Or Brights/Dim switch.
R + R'ed the dimmer switch and the lights worked normal again.

Re: Headlights Stopped working

Could be any number of things but the most common problem seems to be the dimmer switch or the wiring / connector at the dimmer switch.

Welcome to the boards!

Multi-meter's are your best friend, but start in reverse from ground then chase positive!

Re: Headlights Stopped working

A new dimmer switch fixed my headlights that stopped working years ago.

Re: Headlights Stopped working

Thank you for your advice, it was the dimmer switch. The wires under the carpet looked like a birds nest, a little TLC and the lights work great. THANK YOU
