Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

ya my buddy has a 12" one like that behind the seat in his 79 chevy and there was no way we could get it under the seat without taking it out, but from what i can tell it should since there's a drop from the mat down to the metal under the seat. i might need to take out the adjuster cable. but that sub pounds insanely well for its size

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

This is whats going under the seat in mine soon. RE8 8" 2 ohm sub and a dedicated Alpine mono amp. I've also a german made mac Attack 4 channel amp to power some components at some point in the future, for now I'll make do with the JBL 6x9's in the door until I find what I want. The comps will go in a door build.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

Just a quick concern, but what's the RMS rating on that sub...?

Amp puts out 700w peak, so You can probably firgure on anywhere from 350w to 450w RMS. You might blow that sub without even trying...

RE Audio RE8 subs will take 500 watts no problemo.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

I used to have a few of them RE8's and in my experience in about .6-.7 cf ported each it took around 250 watts rms each to bottom them out playin music. I did burp them a couple times with little over 500rms each and they survived fine but i wouldnt run near that much daily/music listenin. There are a lot of variables (box type and size, gain on amp, etc.) that will effect it. They are good little speakers.

You mustn't have heard different kinds of subs then.

JL No longer makes W0s, if you want good JL subs, go for the W5-6 or if you're an audiophile go for the W7

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

I'm not going to get into some pissing match about subs.

The 6w0 delivers really tight bass in a really small space. Great for sound quality, not boom.

Size isnt everything hah, I'm feeding each of my 10" subs an excess of 2500 watts rms each and they will take more no problem.

Rc 415 - what Amp are you running? That's a lot of RMS power. What kind of power do you have to keep up with that Amp?

Do you mean power wire?

Because just powerwise, I have a hunch it's powered by the battery.

I was running a Hifonics XX Goliath, but now I have on order a Rockford fosgate t40001bd. I have 3 Optima Yellow tops, and a 300 amp alt with 4/0 guage wire all around, its a pretty stout setup.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

nothing as nice as some other posts..

but built by a 16 year old (and his buddy)...on a 16 year old budget

sits where a center console would be, but in a bench seat truck, if you slide the seat forwards, the whole box pulls out sideways, with quick disconnects on the back, amp is under the seat.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

Wish I had pics of the sub setup I ran back in high school when I was 16. An old amp I got for free...6 inch sub from some computer speakers...actually sounded pretty good though. Just enough low end for me to enjoy within the truck. Those were the days...
