52/64 inch spring swap 1964 k10

Anyone done this swap? I picked up an 87 Suburban to swap axles, springs, steering and brake master from. What all am I in for? I know I need to get rear springs from an 88-88-98 and will have to swap brackets, anything else major?

Re: 52/64 inch spring swap 1964 k10

Im about to do this same swap hopefully in a couple weeks. Im probably going to run the diy4x4 first gen 52 and beyond kit. Just want to talk to Kert to make sure it will work. Not sure about the 64's but on my 63, the front core support bracket is separate from the front spring hanger. Im hoping their kit will allow me to support the core support and front of the spring as well.
For the rears, I have the front and rear spring hangers from a '73 k10. If the front hanger works, Ill use it. For the rear I may use the diy flip and switch if only because the kit is very compact compared to flipping the factory rears or doing the home made shackle flip that Ive seen.
My hope is to move the rear axle back 1" and the front forward 1", retain the ride height and load capacity and hopefully get a smoother ride overall. If the ride height doesn't change, Im thinking that I won't have to mess with the brake lines. Driveline angles... now that's a different story.

Re: 52/64 inch spring swap 1964 k10

Definitely let me know how it goes. I'm hoping to start my swap this weekend if I can get the 87 stripped this week. I'm hoping for about a 4" lift by swapping springs. I want to run 37's till I make my flat bed, then step up to 39's. I'm trying to use all factory parts that I have, spring hangers from the 87 etc. Hoping it all works out. I'm also going to the 87 axles, power steering and power brakes. Shock mounts will be interesting I think, but won't know till the springs and axles are swapped.
