I am thinking about buying drop spindles and disc brakes for my 67 c10 soon. I bought 3" lowered springs and shocks for the truck last summer.

My question, would I be better off getting an original spindle for a disc brake conversion using say 3" lowered springs. Or 3" drop spindle with an original front spring? Figured I would ask before I make the investment.

Another question, anyone know who has the best deals on conversion kits for disc brakes.

You would be better off with 2-1/2in drop spindles and 1in drop springs.

2nd that,a 3" spindle will put the a arm close to the pavement. 2" is about all you want to drop on a spring,& keep proper geometry. Here is a site with lots of info... http://www.classicperform.com/

Hi guys. I've seen in some applications the dropped spindles increase the front track by 3/4" or so per side. Anyone know if this true with the dropped spindles for our trucks? Boog.

Boog.I can tell you from experience.I used dropped spindles/disc on a 69 c-10 using the stock ball joints.They increased my front track width approx 2in. per side.Got around it by using dif.offsets on rims!
These spindles were meant for stock ball jts and newer tie rods.Wouldn't do it like this again,but,live and learn!!!

Thanks Mike. I was afraid of that. I have a 69 with an 82 front suspension and disc brakes on it. I want to drop it about 2 1/2" but not with a wider track too. Don't want to mess up the ride or steering geometry. What is the next alternative? Boog.

Mike, I see they sell drop spindles that are supposed to match up to your existing ball joints. Are these the spindles you used or did you use the type that the ball joints have to be updated with the newer style? I really appreciate this info. I am having second thoughts for sure.

I just did the same thing you are working on,
I had already done the drop using the short springs a cuople of years ago and the ride was ok until a couple of weeks ago that I went to the junk yard and took the disk brake assembly off of a 78 2wd truck, including the steering linkage, after I got done with the whole putting together and put the truck back on the ground I noticed that it was a lot lower than before, maybe 4" to 5" from the ground, a little too low for my taste!, anyway I will be putting the original springs back to get it a bit higher before I have it aligned. Maybe the spindles I took off where lowered and I never noticed.
