TH350 Detent with Holley 670 issues

Hey folks, I just picked up this new Rig, and it needs some things sorting out.

Basically the truck does not downshift from 3-2 when you give it gas (downshift), and the shift from 2-3 seems real early.
I think those are separate problems.

Backstory is: 2008 6.0 LS2 with MSD ignition and Holley 670 Carb
76 Suburban K10; th350; 3:73 gears 4x4;

The carb was just put on when I got it, but the Detent cable is not right, and I have never fiddled with one before.

The good news is that I have ANOTHER suburban with a Qjet so I can compare how they work.

I took a video of how it looks before I did anything (in the video I'm explaining this to my 8 year old son)

As you can see the "loop" of the detent cable is not really attached and it slides around when the throttle is applied.

I tightened the cable where it sat, but then the whole linkage binds up:

Do I have the wrong cable here? Linkage? What's the story?

Thanks for your help in advance!

It's supposed to slide like in your first vid.
You need to adjust it. Just on the back side of the bracket that holds the cable in place is a tab that either gets pushed up from the bottom and you hold the throttle wide open and push the tab back down or the newer style that lets's you hold the throttle wide open and push down the tab on top.

Ok Cool, I adjusted the Kickdown cable and took it for a test, way better, will kick down a gear now. Thanks!
Yeah I was confused because here is my "other suburban" 350/350 with q-jet.
(just don't ask how many suburbans I have.)

Please ignore the profanity and "muttering to myself" I'm working on becoming a grumpy old man. LOL
