To speed up the process you may consider using no wooven paint removal discs...Thats what i use with my angle grinder

What color are you planning on painting it? I think the way it looked (factory) was cool with the stripes on the hood and everything.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

primary color will be black, and secondary will be like a deep red, the stripes are kind of growing on me too believe it or not, I might do like a silver and white stripe on the hood just to make it different. I'm a fan of blue I wont lie but the blue thats on there just isnt doing the trick for me haha. It's going to be a sweet paint job, after I created my acct on here the name kind of switched and so did the colors but I dont know it might switch again I do love me some blue thats for sure so it might change again haha only time will tell haha

If I dont do the black and red, I'm thinking of blue (Texas Ranger blue) or (Dodge Blue) with white kind of stick with the orginial paint scheme, but put some red pin stripes on it, and then for the hood I would do a silver and white stripes but we'll see.

Well wonderful news!! Backfire is non-exsistant problem was is when I punched it the other night the motor wasn't warm enough so it caused it to go crazy, today cranked it up let it just idle for a few minutes then took it around drove around for about 10-15 minutes no backfire whatsoever running like a champ!

Nice looking project. I had a 1976 c10 a few years ago that was the exact same colors.

Nice!!! Yeah it's coming along slowly but I like the progress I'm making on it though, this is a whole new world to me cause I have no idea really what I'm doing so it's a project build/learning experience right now as you can tell I'm trying to knock out body work on it.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well my project for the day was to get one of the fenders sanded down and primed well I completed that, still had time to clean up my car and get it looking pretty too so here's pictures of today's progress.

Here's my DD if you guys ever wonder what I drive since I don't drive my truck much but on weekends.

Thanks I appreciate it, I mean obviously I'm hard on myself but I thought I did a decent job being that I'm not pro at it.

Hell it looks pro and if your to hard on yourself, you might worry to much, we all start out learning and it looks like you did a great job. i need some new front fenders also some one bodoed mine but did not remove all cancer before. but now ill have to find some decent ones with surface rust, that would be easier plus ive got some ideas

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Appreciate it, glad to know it looks good. I have a friend help me sand it all down but I did all the primer with a spray can. Yeah thankfully they owners before me didn't bondo any of it, but I'm going to purchase panels through lmc because it's not dreadful minor stuff. Good look with that man and yeah I've heard surface rust is pretty easy to handle, but then again I don't know how to tackle surface rust wouldn't mind knowing though.

the surface rust is like removing paint but it leaves pits sometimes. the surface rust also makes it alot more softer and thinner if reall bad, but other than that i recomend rust-oleums rust reformer you can buy at walmart i would grab 4 of these, and it converts rust to a protected paintable surface. it turns rust black. but dont be fooled, you still should use primer after you sand a surface rusted area with pits, then apply the rust reformer. then you could apply your primer, then your paint.

I believe the magnums came with SRT-8 version, equiped with a lil better suspension, if you do a trade in, youl have one kick ass Magnum

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

So if I understand you correctly, sand down the surface and then put that rust reformer, let it turn black and then paint?

Haha yeah they did have an srt-8 but I want something different, I'm looking towards either a Chevy Tahoe, or GMC Yukon and then most likely everynow and then for kicks and grins I'll trailer my truck with it.

well i havent tryed it yet, but this is my theory. the directions read this. Apply to rust with a cloth, and adjust the amount it takes to transform the rust. rust will turn black. they also have rust remover if you want to just remove it, but if its to bad might have to use reformer. sand it, use the reformer, than sand it again, and paint. i thought since you might use the reformer, sanding it again to make sure your rust is gone except for the pitted stuff, plus itll shine after you sand the rust reformed metal instead of it being black
