It's got no air and some pretty significant rust issues. I think people get caught up on the cool, mismatched paint theme but want to fix the rust and can't figure out how to do it inexpensively without messing up the character. The new owner also wants something he can tow more with.

It's listed on CL in Huntsville.

For some reason I can dig that truck, rust and all. At first glance, $3500 seems steep, but even if you started with a $1000 field truck you couldn't build it for that.

Completely agree. I know what I had in it and what he's put in it and it's way over that for sure. He'd take less though, I know.

I'm not exactly sure, John. I'd need to come take a closer look at it and take into account its options (which aren't many if I remember correctly). It's a pretty solid truck, much more solid than Oaky is, and in in more original condition which has worth in my eyes. I'd hate to put a number on it without talking to you more about it.

Re: '92 Chevy c1500 Sport

I've seen similar trucks with "patina" listed on Craigslist for five grand. It makes little sense to me really. I love these old squares but the price are more of a popularity contest than actual worth. My truck is full of rust and such and I remember what I paid for it in 97. Now many moons later I still don't see a three grand truck or better. But it's all what one is willing to pay.

Re: '92 Chevy c1500 Sport

Im still not ready to sell it but really dont know what its worth when and if the time comes .And you are right it has few options .3 on the tree ,6 cylinder ,power brakes and AM radio that dont work. And the power brakes were added by me .It now has a little over 60000 original miles .When I get able I want to get it out of the shed and play with it some more .I have a few simple things to do to it ,Mexican Blanket seat covers ,which I have and play with the patina a bit .I may even put the old white steel wheels and doggy dished back on it .My biggest problem is having too many toys to play with at the same time but hopefully when Im healthier I can do some of this .

Re: '92 Chevy c1500 Sport

Oaky is still in the North Huntsville area and is now the shop truck for a local exhaust shop. Apparently the guys that did the exhaust on it had to have it. Glad it's in good hands!

As for my '92, i bought the wife a new car (Honda Pilot) and I'm now daily driving the '92. Stoked! Picking it up from having the air fixed/converted/charged this afternoon, finally got the pinstripes off, and the wheel guards to flashed and hoping to get it all buffed out pretty soon. Now I need to find a red tailgate, pull of that old nasty tint, clean the headlights, and I'll be set. I love the way this truck rides and drives so I'm seriously considering leaving it STOCK...yep, I said it.

Oh, and i bought a '69 swb farm truck. Man, I've got the sickness.

Thanks, AD! Still following your burb thread. What a cool ride that will be. Not much happening with the '92 other than it transporting me back and forth on my commute every day. The master and slave cylinder was going out and caused me to eat up the clutch so it did get a little love in that department.

Been working on my '69 a lot lately so I haven't had an opportunity to even get the old tint off or track down a tailgate. In due time...

While an interesting proposition, I think I just found a really nice red tailgate on CL just now. Going to look at/buy it it in Acworth tonight. I'll keep you guys posted.

I still need to get up with you on that 69/70 grille. I haven't forgotten about you. Been working on the interior overhaul on the '69.

Re: '92 Chevy c1500 Sport

Finally ran down a GMC tailgate that's the same color as my truck. Debadged it then repainted the handle this evening. I've got to get the trim that goes around the handle but it's much more complete now.

Now to figure out why it won't open....hmmm

Re: '92 Chevy c1500 Sport

Other than having the transmission gone through, master and slave cylinder replaced, new clutch, complete tune-up with new intake manifold and valve cover gaskets, I'm just driving the heck out of this truck, daily. I've put over 7k miles on it since I've owned it.

I did manage to get the nasty purple tint off of the driver and passenger side windows. Rear window is up next. I'm really loving this truck. Still thinking a mild drop soon.

Been working on my '69 a little here and there, too. Getting ready to dive into the suspension on it and drop in a more healthy straight 6.

So what you're saying is that the '92 is still at stock height? Boo! Hiss!

It is! It's the most stock truck I've ever owned, I believe. It has a flowmaster in place of the stock muffler that the PO installed but everything else is completely stock. I kinda dig it.
