1972 D44 wheel bearing part numbers

Installing a rebuilt disc brake D44 from a 1972 in my ‘70 burb. Small bearing. Most of the websites I usually order stuff from want to send me the large bearings. Also, I need seals. It’s my understanding they started using an improved seal in 1972. Hoping somebody here can make this easy and knows the part numbers, or can at least point me the right direction. Thanks

Thanks—much appreciated!

The only reason I caught this was because even the 4wd speciality places were showing set 45 for the outer, and I had some of those here still in the box. Way too big…

I'd say so, set 35 is the outer and set 37 inner. I usually don't have them memorized by set numbers---had to look that up. Chevy 1/2 ton dana 44s used the small bearing spindles up to when GM went to the 10 bolt front, then they were all the same for both 1/2 and 3/4 ton (large bearing spindle) which is the same spindle for the early 3/4 ton

Re: 1972 D44 wheel bearing part numbers

Ok, I may have made a mess of this. Bear with me. When I had my axle rebuilt, the guy asked me if I still had the original small bearing hubs, and I was sure I did. Turns out I don’t. The ones I thought were original are big bearing. Lots of parts here, but no small bearing hubs. Buy sell and trade a lot. I remember telling the guy I might just swap on some big bearing spindles, of which I have several. But he said that wouldn’t work because the knuckles are different. Is that true?

Has nothing to do with the knuckles. Just a spindle-hub thing. If you have the large bearing hubs, then get a later model 10 bolt spindle. The large bearing hub/spindle will take a 104949 inner bearing 104910 race. Seal and outer bearing are the same
