Re: More on EVs from a guy trying to sell them

In Connecticut, an estimated jump of $38 a month in Eversource electric bills this summer is partially due to balances that were never paid during the pandemic. “Overdue customer balances are paid for by all customers,” the company wrote.
Meanwhile, Eversource reported record profits in excess of $1.4 billion for 2022.

Re: More on EVs from a guy trying to sell them

Regarding the most recent posts above: Absolutely effing insane!
  • Make us all pay for expanded power grids to accommodate EVs?
  • Force hard-working citizens to subsidize utility bills for illegal immigrants?
  • Raise utility rates on every customer to pay for deadbeats who didn't pay their bills during Covid?

Man, I'm glad I live where I do! We know our governor must be doing something right when he's hated by Biden, Democrat politicians, and most of the media.

A similar subject...

I have never heard anything regarding how the states and feds will compensate for the gas tax dollars lost when everything is powered by electricity. At least those are progressive tax dollars based on consumption. That's one tax I don't mind if those dollars are usually used for road maintenance and construction.

Anyone heard this addressed? Is tax added at the charging stations? What if I do most or all of my charging at home?

Re: More on EVs from a guy trying to sell them

Utah has a tax for EVs built into its annual registration. They're also experimenting with a road usage fee.

Back to a previous topic, you might have seen this one. The Hertz CEO got the boot for his bad bet on EVs.

In Kentucky, starting this year, electric vehicle owners pay $60-$120 dollars at time of registration to be used as road tax. They also pay 3 cents a kilowatt tax at public recharging stations. No tax on home charging.

NY charges more to register and renew EVs . Not sure if there is a tax on public chargers but it’s a step in the right direction. People don’t realize that EVs cause more ware and tear than a comparable ICE . Wear is directly related to vehicle weight . An F150 lightning weighs a 1000 to 2000 pounds more than the standard f150 depending on its options

So, bottom line is President Biden no longer wants to give us a choice based on our budgets and driving habits. "Comrade, you will buy electric and like it!"

I think used car sales will take off again, even more than during Covid. What's that going to do for American jobs in the automotive sector?

I'm still not convinced these activists politicians understand how electrical power is generated. Although I think California is beginning to face the reality of needing to build more natural gas and, heaven forbid, nuclear power plants. Then again, they can always mandate wind turbines and solar panels on every building, and banks of lithium ion batteries for calm, cloudy days.

I bet he doesn’t even remember signing the bill. Maybe things will change for the better in November…

Re: More on EVs from a guy trying to sell them

Really . We will reduce our carbon and China will increase theirs . They already produce twice the greenhouse gases as the US . China produced 27% of the total worldwide we were at 11% this was 5 years ago we’ve lowered that number where China is adding to theirs . It’s all smoke and mirrors .
